I really need a mobile mitresaw stand. Has anyone built one? I think something like this would work best. Compact, but folds out to hold a long board. I've also got an old tool cart I cant seem to get rid of, I've been thinking about converting vs building completely from scratch. Thanks in advance.

If you can't find 300 videos on YouTube for miter stands, I worry about your survival skills
That was the first place I looked. The problem with YouTube is, once they build it, that's it. They move on to the next video. You rarely see an update, pros/cons list etc. And the comments section, well, I truly hope most of those people aren't allowed to touch anything sharp.

A friend of mine does high end hardwood trim and case work on sight. He has a Bosch glide miter saw that he has on the bora portacube and likes it very much. He says it the most solid and shop like stand that is still portable. He has a Makita saw if he has to get a saw upstairs however as they are so heavy its just down the ramp of the trailer and in the drive for the glide/bora.

Makes sense. I think there are some that revisit their builds and redo them. Check woodshop junkies or woodworking for mere mortals?

Can always go to the old standbys- new Yankee workshop and TOH

Sort of - I simply bolted it to an old Black and Decker workmate.

Works great. Solid enough, folds up, cost very little used, and didn't take long to do!

I'd do it again. Wouldn't mess about building something from scratch.

I did, it was rock solid, but it wasn’t very portable. Got an inexpensive folding stand at Menards. It’s much more portable and foldable than anything I could build for the price.

Just grab a ridgid MSUV. They regularly go on sale and are legitimately good. The extendable supports easily hold trim. I see no practical need for supporting very heavy boards as they can easily be cut with a handheld circular saw from saw horses
The more I think about it, the more I think this is the route I should he taking.

I have the Bosch gravity stand and it works great especially when you have to move it around since it has wheels but it is heavy.

I also have a simple Dewalt stand and while it has no wheels it is much lighter and has a much smaller foot print and takes less storage space up than the Bosch.

Yes. My shop miter saw (dewalt dws782) has wheels. I built a 3 drawer cabinet. Added some wheels for a rolling base. Added some fold down wings. The fold down wings do not have a back fence, just a flat surface. It isn't over engineered. Pretty simple really. Works good for my needs.

I also have a 7-1/4 dcs361. It lives under a bench. When I use that saw it sits on the ground or floor or sits on a Workmate. I use a 2nd Workmate with some support clamped in the table jaws for work support.

I like this idea. You can make something, see what you like/don't like and see how/if it serves your needs, then either modify it or buy another one.

I put mine on a folding work table when I'm using it. I use another table to hold longer boards up.

I bought a hf Hercules, on sale for 140$,rolls easy, seems well built. I like you can order an extra pair of mounting brackets, this way I can keep a set on the table saw and swap out easyand just add a roller stand behind the ts. It's also easy to store, I hang itfrom the ceiling.

Extra brackets are available for the Ridgid as well, $30. I've never used the Hercules and don't know how it compares, though. I've had my Ridgid for a decade or so

I built these. They are a modified ron paulk design. I have a Ridgid chop saw stand. It is ok but really terrible compared to these. Having a ultra wide and flat surface is amazing. Plus having a rack on the front minimizes the double handling of trim. I built two so I can handle 16 foot sticks of trim easily and not have to switch miters all the time with two miter saws. If you have nothing the Ridgid stand is good. If you cut trim professionally every day it is lacking.

There are so many good, affordable options for this I can't imagine building one unless you are a pro needing something unique want the challenge

The old school fold out DeWalt is beefy, just no wheels, the Ridgid Msuv is legit decent portable wheeled stand

One thing about the portable stands... Mount a piece of plywood to the brackets, then the saw to that plywood.

It gives you a ton of space to pile up **** like your tape measure, pencil, cutoffs, etc.
