A few of my friends and I have powerstokes and if you've ever worked on one you know they are tall! My knees ache after a few hours wrenching on one. At the moment we put a huge cooler to stand on in front and a few smaller coolers by the tires. Last time I was seriously considering suspending myself with a deer hanger/hook/pulley deal.........

So, have any of you guys built a topside creeper with wood or metal? I'd love to see some pics. Thanks!

My wife gave me one for Christmas 2 years ago. It has been a lifesaver because I have 2 herniated discs. I think she got it from Northern Tool.

I use it all the time!

Just lay on your stomach? Seems you could fashion one up pretty easily with some angle iron. Might get extra thick angle if your a big hoss like me. ;)

I have used an old, thick couch cushion to lay on, but I need more support on the upper body/shoulder area. Buying one might be easier, but I got a lot of metal and wood laying around so I'd rather go that route.

And thank you for the picture of the one you purchased, helps make visualizing the build easier.

Check this out. I'm up on it probably 15 hours a week. Works great, cheap, and room to store tools/parts with you. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1392876408.289770.jpg
It slides in all the way until the legs hit the bumper. It's about the perfect depth for reaching in and pulling a turbo or swapping the up-pipes on a powerstroke.

I feel ya man. Everytime I'm under my hood I'm thankful I designed my front end replacement the way I did... I got enough room to stand between the rack and the radiator and even sit on the bumper uprights/crosspiece.

If I didn't have my front end, I don't know how I'd make a topside creeper like that work with my 2010... The grill going up with the hood and all... Seems like it would be VERY tight!

Quick, delete or edit this part!
The Chevy and Dodge guys are going to twist this into "Powerstrokes require 15 hours of maintenance a week to stay on the road" propaganda!

Nice truck!

How could you possibly complain about having room to work on a ford! Every time I've seen one in the shop they just take the cab off, I guess just assumed you had to do that change the oil since I've seen so many like that
