anyone do a hinged overhead door for a storage area?

Hi all,

So I have framed out my bathroom and ended up having to put the water heater up to and will have the pipe for the fart fan. It is still going to be for light storage but I realize it will also be a dust trap. So I thought about doing some hinged overhead doors. Similar to the attached photo (in concept)
I have also attached pics of the space.
Any thoughts or advice? I figure I can set up for framing supports now before drywall goes up. Just on the long side. Maybe a center support if necessary and two sections? Height is about 22" Length about 7'

Steelcase makes an overhead file that looks like that. The door tucks inside the top of the cabinet, sort of like a one piece garage door.

I have some medical file cabinets that have drawers like that on all levels. Only 5 drawers though : ( I have Legal file cabinets that have them on the top shelf only. I can put them in my low basement where they barely clear the ceiling but I can still access the top drawer! I love them.

If you made the walls full height and have the shelves inside the room, above the appliances? Just thinking out loud.

Already framed with the plywood "floor" for the area. Also, this keeps the bathroom clean looking on the inside with an 8 ft ceiling.
(But did think about doing that)

7 feet long will be clumsy overhead

If you are building this yourself, search barister hinge. Simple inexpensive, sturdy. I've used it on furniture pieces and the door tucks away.

If you just want dust control it would be a lot cheaper to just make some sliding panels in 2-3 sections. AND make them so they can be easily lifted out of their track if you need fuller access.

Does it need to be overhead instead of swinging to the side like a typical door ? Sooner or later, you'll be fighting trying to keep it up and open.

It'll hit you in the head atleast once.
