the missus wants to do stained concrete on a finished basement. Im not really into it so I compromised and we decided to try it out on a small room that we just finished. I have to do the trim work but before I do I want to do the floor. Its just a basement slab, looks like its been painted black, maybe a sealer on it, but it also had carpet glued down. I guess a concrete grinder will get this off, then i acid etch then I stain it? how are products at lowes or home depot for this? I was thinking if it looks good I could do my garage. Where do I find a concrete grinder at? any tips?

I am an expert at all sorts of stained concrete, sump oil paint , tiling glue- not really a suitable finish for a living area

I used Sherwin-Williams etch as well as their stain, as I was looking for something in the blue hues. Make sure that you etch well and uniformally, unless you are going for the non-uniform look that I wanted. Two coats of epoxy and one of poly over that.
