Yes. A gearwrench won't fit down on a bolt in a hole, with something right next to it, etc.


FYI, my dealer said a 1/4" set is on the way. I'm going to hold off for that one.

My GearWrench Pass-Thru sets cover this application. They are super low profile plus they have the pass-thru feature for any threaded rods, etc. I have the sets with locking flex ratchets in 1/4'' and 3/8'' (equivalent) drive. Excellent special application tool at a reasonable price.

I am confused, why would the low profile SO sockets not fit on anything but that low profile ratchet? Is the square drive on it shallower so it only fits on a ratchet with an equally short square drive?

That's what I thought I had heard, but I could be mistaken. I believe someone told me that was an advantage of the Mac ultra shorts. Still waiting for someone to confirm or refute this, though.

Can someone with the low profile SO sockets check and report back?

That, or the go-thru socket attachments for flex or non-flex ratcheting wrenches.
