Gotta learn how to roll up hose I guess. YouTube has some good videos. But I do agree to the fact that the hose can be difficult at times.

I have a 50' Flexzilla 3/8" air hose, a 100' manual reel air hose, and a 50' 10 gauge extension cord. If they were all stolen today, I'd replace them with identical items. Best I've used.

Let's cut out the stealing on my part and the re-installation labor on your part, and you just order that setup delivered to my place???

Mine works fine too. I do want to get a hose reel at some point to make my life easier. The trick when you loop it around something like that is to twist it as you go so it lays flat. A little practice and you will love your flexzilla hose.

I’ve found that pvc air hoses (not air lines) are very difficult to coil cleanly. Rubber hoses, even the HF ones, coil much easier if you know how to coil a hose.

Side note, it boggles my mind at work that the guys there don't know how to roll up extension cords, if done properly you should be able to toss it and it comes out straight

I have had no issue with flexzilla (or natural rubber hoses). If you don't know how to coil a hose up, it's going to make a mess no matter what it's made out of.

It's not the hose's fault if you aren't smarter than a hose when it comes to rolling it

My 3/8 ID Flexzillia hose just failed at work the other day, blew the end with its Prevost coupler off. Maybe it doesn't like holding air pressure 24/7. i think it's at least 5 years old. I think NAPA has a Flexzilla repair station. I would buy another one.

Lord knows I’ve tried. I’ve watched YouTube videos. I just can’t get the hang of it. I am so envious of people who can do it. I’m tempted to become a roadie for a traveling band for a week just to learn how to coil cables and hoses.

Same technique applies to power cords.

I have tried to teach myself several times. The "over under" method does work
but it feels so awkward that I get frustrated on go back to the old method.

The 3/8" 100' Flexzilla manual hose reel I have is a huge time saver and convenience factor. It's always ready to use and I can roll up 75' of hose in about 10 seconds.

Let's cut out the stealing on my part and the re-installation labor on your part, and you just order that setup delivered to my place???

Nope. I got a ReelCraft, hung it off the ceiling in the garage. No regrets.

I have had decent luck with Flexzilla air hose...... But I don't believe it's "the best". I've had good luck with other "flexible" air hoses, too. There was a guy on this site a few years ago who was pushing his "BluBird" brand of soft rubber air hose. It was available at Menard's and I bought a roll. I thought it was excellent and went back and bought 2 more rolls for myself and 6 rolls for the shop. No problems with it at all. However, one guy at work thought it was TOO soft. lol. The BluBird was just as good, if not better than Flexzilla for less than half the price. (it was on sale for like $12 bucks a roll at Menard's for 50' 3/8")

^ same guy is on here now marketing a new pressure washer hose

If the quality is anywhere near the quality of the air hose, it's probably a good product.

The air hose was (maybe still is?) made in INDIA and I wasn't really sure about the quality based on other products that I've had over the years that came from there, but after buy it, and using it for a while I was pleasantly surprised. :dunno:

You can feel when cable or hose is twisting/kinking, so just roll your wrist to counter the twist as you're coiling. If it starts to twist notably, just flick the uncoiled portion, (as you would when throwing a hoop, to get it to return to you), to take some twist out of it.

when hand rolling any hose....lay the complete hose in a straight line, then either wrap it around your hand and elbow or coil it on the ground.

OK, FWIW I've been coilin' **** for 40 years. I bought a flexzilla for the ease of not having to coil. To me it's a scam.

You can't fight physics.

As you coil, twist the long end of the hose you're bringing up to your other hand with a half-turn roll of the fingers. Power cords, garden hose, air hose, etc. will all fall "perfectly flat."

Flexzilla promotes their hose as being extremely flexible, and having no memory. That means you can store it for a long time, uncoil it, and it will not retain a coiled shape like a PVC jacketed hose will.

I really don't understand what you were expecting? If you twist the hell out of the hose while putting it away, of course it's going to get bunched up and tangled. Did you expect Flexzilla to be some magical physics-defying hose that allows you to twist it up forever without it caring? It's not an endless chain of swivel couplings - it's a hose.

Flexzilla isn't a scam just because you had unrealistic product expectations.

The picture you see is a coiled hose, then air put to it. This was an experiment, three years ago when I bought it new.

Yes, I was expecting something better than my Goodyear rubber hoses. I got a light hose, no better than rubber.

But hey, when I was a kid, we were told cars would ride on air and we'd all have jet packs

I still don't understand what exactly you're trying to prove, or what you were expecting? I'm not sure your "experiment" shows anything besides that the dimensions of a hose change when you put pressure to it. Huge surprise there.

Roll the hose out in straight line. Roll it into a circle working out a y kinks as you go. Worked for me as I developed my coiling technique. Now I hole with one hand and coil with the other. Consistency in foiling helps, do it the same every time.

Am I the only one who coils everything over-under? Doesn't matter if it's a garden hose, air hose, cable, cord, rope, whatever. I don't even think about it anymore. One coil thumbsup, next coil thumbsdown, repeat. No twists. When you're ready to use it it falls straight out ready to go.

I have HF hose that has been charged for nearly 25 years. The rubber wear has had end replaced half a dozen times but the hard orange one never.

Has anyone tried the new flexible green hose (Flexzilla knockoff) from Harbor Freight? I have no need for a new air hose, but I was in HF the other day I saw they had their own version of Flexzilla and I wondered if it was any good?

I just repeat the over like he does in that video, especially for my guitar cords. When I was playing in various dive bars with other bands using the "peel off" method of equipment I never knew exactly how much cord I needed. My amp would need to be loaded in first with the opening bands equipment in front. Depending on the bar, sometimes the terrifying electrical hazard I got to plug into would be clear on the opposite side of the stage, so the long cords were handy when you had no idea what you were walking into.

Continuing to wrap the "over" way only let me keep control of the 50'-0" cords I bought with no mess.

I was able to go to the amp on the backside of the coil, the equipment on the front side and keep the remainder in a nice coil for easy cleanup. With the side hooked to me facing up I got a nice clean peel off if I started to wander further than expected. You know, if there happened to be a few patrons that needed a visit from a bass player mid-set.

Simple solution. Put air to in then coil it. That’s what I did. Hangs on a hook for when I need 1/2.

I have the flexzilla wheel too. Zero complaints

I bought an automatic reel with a 50' hose at Canadian Tire so I wouldn't have to deal with this. I have no patience when it comes to coiling things.

I was not aware that there was any difficulty hand rolling up a hose, of any kind. Since I was old enough to pick up an extension cord I have always looped it around my palm/elbow and its worked fine for me.
