Anyone else have trouble with Milwaukee Tool Triggers?

I started switching over to Milwaukee battery tools, both M18 and M12 about 4 years ago. I don't have any of the Fuel versions, just the lower cost Drills, saws, etc. I don't use them every day, just for home owner projects and such. today, I was using my M18 drill and it wouldn't stay on at full power. With the trigger completely pushed, it ran slowly, ramped up for a few seconds then started varying the speed as if I were varying pressure on the trigger. Changed batteries, nothing changed.

Is this something where there's a easy fix? Maybe trigger replacement?

Thanks

The trigger operation is integral with the printed circuit board assembly its wired to.

A power malfunction like you describe is most likely related to a component failing on the attached PCB

The trigger and board are often replaced as one assembly part number and not sourced separately.

I would suggest warranting it thru E Service they honor a 5 year warranty from date of purchase or serial number.

I have used the service several times was very efficient and cost me no money whatsoever.

Based on the outright cost of purchasing any needed parts for a repair the warranty coverage is a real bargain IMHO :D

I would also advise to maybe contact Milwaukee CS to see what the deal is during this current crisis though.

Ok. Thank you for that info. I bought them through HD during one of their specials. I just need to find the purchase info and I'll give warranty service a call.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the info.

There is part of milwaukee's corp website where you can enter the serial # of the tool.

If under warranty (will determine Y or N by serial #) it leads you to where you print a prepaid fedex label. Put tool in box with the label, wait a bit and they send it back no charge.

I sent one in from work which started working intermittently and they basically replaced every component except the plastic clamshell, like even a new motor and chuck. I was pretty impressed.

Agreed with everyone else on the warranty process. We probably warranty at least one Milwaukee tool a month and the website is pretty painless.

As far as the trigger going, I have seen them get iffy a few times. Generally the spotlights have been the worst offenders.
