I wanted an old portable typewriter. Just because. I found a red 1929 Corona in mint condition. I use it a few times a month. Then I went garage saling and snagged a couple more. That's all I can do for, but there's a few more I've got my eye on. A couple of old Remmingtons.

Post 'em if you got 'em.

1929 Corona Special. It folds, which is kind of neat.

I think they look pretty cool and I wouldn't mind having one sitting around, but beyond that I have zero use for one.

They make kits that turn your old typewriter into a bluetooth keyboard for a computer...I want one. I was just having a conversation with my buddy about this the other day - he can't believe that I learned to type on a manual typewriter!

Thinkink about it, I do have one that belonged to my Aunt that passed. My Mom has it in garage sale stuff for next time. I remember it's in a case if that helps.

My dad worked in the late 30s smashing off lease typewriters with a sledge to make sure they weren't reused. He worked for Otis elevator after that.

I know a guy that buys them and sells them to a lady that cuts the keys off and makes jewelry out of them.

Wow, as a techie that adding machine is amazingly cool!

Think about the guys that designed these things. Intricate mechanical interaction of gears, shafts, levers, etc.

They designed all this with a pencil and paper. No CAD, no simulation SW and much more then routing electrons around to various circuits.

In before the move!

Here is mine; I got ride of several over the past 15-20 years, but this one I bought a couple of years ago, as it's a near era fit for my 1880's roll top desk. (The Desk actually predates typewriters IIR)

The typewriter is a 1912 Underwood.

On the corner of my cluttered desk:

And a Closeup, This is pretty much as I bought it. still has ink in the ribbon:

I'll have to look for the Bluetooth kit someone mentioned. I'd love to take another similar to this and make a Computer keyboard...

Monte......I've never seen a QWERTZ layout before.

Did you have some munchkin helpers "repair" this machine (while you weren't looking) ? :D
