I like that idea on the DIY smooth jaw!

You know, Channellock does make a smooth jaw plier, model #415. For some reason, they don't show up too often in the big box stores or hardware stores, but they are available directly from Channellock.

Hey Metaldad! How do you like those 606 snips? I haven't seen those before. Are they made by Channellock in the USA, or by some other company overseas? What's the quality like?

Yes, I like ChannelLock.

7585-591687437.jpg

The local TruValue (50+ years) has every channellock tool made on the shelf. I was thinking I would make my Small Business Saturday visit there this year and take a few of these home for friends, family and a few for me.

This Christmas if you are buying, make it local and USA made if at all possible.

Here's my current collection, as I'm fitting stuff into my new box:

channellock.jpg

Just added several more pairs to the collection, found them on clearance.

Not ALL of my pliers, just the blue has been moved in...

I like Channelock products. Good product, very functional, no gimmicky ********, made in the US, and a major plus- very widely available vs. having to be specifically hunted down.

+1

I like the price as well. It's hard to find tools of their quality that are made in the US and offer that type of price to quality ratio.

I like your style! There's a mom and pop hardware store not too far from me. I think I'll stop by there this weekend. Nice collection too!

I love Channellock pliers, good quality and made in the USA. I use the largest pliers to roll fenders on demolition derby cars, they're virtually indestructible. It's worth paying a little more to have a higher quality IMO.

Mudflap, where did you get those wire rack dividers?

If you're referring to the ones in the orange drawer above, those are mine.

The racks are the Plyworx Pliers Rack.

Northern Tool sells them on Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B001DZLMFI/?tag=atomicindus08-20) for $25.00/each with Prime shipping

Or, direct from Northern Tool (http://www.northerntool.com/shop/tools/product_200365376_200365376) for $19.99/each, which might be cheaper if you're buying more than one, or ordering other stuff from them, using coupon codes, etc.

I'm sure there's other sources, but I got mine from NT.

I don't think so, more like $1200-$1400.

Any other guesses?

$800. Channellocks are not nearly that expensive, most are around $20 give or take and that is today's prices. I would also guess, since this is garage journal, some of those were bought on the recent amazon deals, so my number may even be high.

Heh - I'm probably going to be glad I didn't pay attention to how much I've spent on them over the last few years. I'd say $2k is probably rather high, though. :D

I suppose there's at least $900 - $1000 there, but a large portion of them were either purchased on clearance specials or deeper discounts (say, Amazon deals and the like), so that's helped keep it from being completely out of control...

Looks to be around 50, all new, say an average price of $20 per. Some of the smaller closer to $10 some of the larger $30+?. So ~$1000 including tax. :dunno:
