Anyone else like Channellocks?

Thanks guys! I’m sure my collection of Channellocks isn’t noteworthy in comparison to other collections out there. Jeff, I know you and metaldad have a lot of Channellock stuff. What I do get a kick out of however, is that I just noticed this thread is ten years old. Hard to believe. Where does the time go? Well, good to know that Channellock is still hanging in there and they’re still being made in the USA.

Anybody know if there’s a good way to re-dip the blue handles on Channellocks? I may or may not be eyeing another old rusty, beat up set of 422’s…

Tynee, I'm not sure if Plasti-Dip is still made, or if its formula has improved. I last used it decades ago. The results back then were usable, if not as nice or durable as the factory dip jobs.

It is still made - the big box stores carry it.

Locktite makes a "plasti-dip" type product too. I just ordered some in blue to try on some of my tools. I haven't used it yet, so I don't have any feedback to offer. I just read some comments suggesting it might be tougher than Plasti-dip and figured I'd give it a whirl.

It's a little more expensive - but not much if you shop around. The product is called "Color Guard". I got mine from Grainger, but I bet its easier to find in the USA.

Thanks, Outlaw. I've heard of Plasti-Dip, but thought it was more of a "shell" than the rubbery texture of the original handles. Admittedly, I have zero experience with it.

Good on 'ya, MD. Those little stubby-handled but drivers look awfully handy. I don't use nut drivers enough to need them, but I can see where they'd be really nice.

I have approximately 16 channel lock pliers of all the normal varieties: slip joint groove, linesman, iron worker, needle nose, fence, etc. But the one that’s worthy of a picture… the Big Azz Channellocks

I recently bought a new lawnmower. The engine has an oil filter. This Channellock #209 worked perfectly breaking loose the old filter and snugging up the new one.

Channellock 3248 vs 348I
Folks, I’d be interested to know peoples thoughts on the new vs old 8 inch lineman’s pliers. Here in Australia, the 3248’s can be had for $65aud whereas the newer model 348I’s are nearly three times the price. It looks like the new model has XLT and a flasher looking handles but I can’t justify the price hike. Is there something I’m missing?

Australia people are one of the few people who talk about insulated channellock pliers on garage journal. If these pliers are a available in the USA - I have no idea.
