Anyone have any experience with the oil filter pliers, 209? They are on sale pretty cheap at Sears and I recently had a filter that was on so tight I had to stick an old screwdriver through it to get it off.

I have the 9" and the next size up, i believe they're the 12"

I love them. Solid made tool. And they can get in to some tight spots.

Dang, I really wish they still made that. Does it have a female drive square in the top of the handle?

Apologies in advance for the non-CL stuff...

ZK: one each of these (Or your favorite flavor), remove the blade, drill and counter bore in a lathe, press fit, maybe a little epoxy on the shoulder...

It has to be a constant diameter extension except for the female end, but many made/make those...

Nice hammers! I've seen quite a few NOS hammers for sale, I just don't have a need for them or room right now....maybe when I buy the bottom blue box!!

Nice hammers Outlaw, and I like that NOS driver Travis. Thanks for the photos guys. I've seen more old Channellock tools that I didn't even know existed because of this thread. Good stuff.

Jim C.

Thanks Jim and Travis!

Yes! I like Channellocks. I have used them all my life. But, when I bought my first pair of Knipex, it was a tool changing experience. My favorite feature is the gripping power they have, that has nothing to do with the amount of force you are applying. Ken.

Oh, and by the way, I have these different brands, and there is no difference in the performance,Diamond caulk and horseshoe,Bonney,Snap On, Cornwell,Blue Point,Craftsman,Channellock.

Hey Travis,

Nice additions to your collection. The #357 is one of my most used Channellocks. I don't know why, but I find myself using that one all the time.

I have a pair of channel lock pliers (430s or 440s) in every tool box or bag. That said I've recently started using Knipex cobra pliers and I keep those in my Occidental pocket pouch that I wear at home when I'm doing work. Much more compact, wider range of adjustment and better grip. That said I'd be less likely to use the cobra as a make-shift hammer than a CL 440.

Here are some updated pictures of the blue top toolbox!! It's getting pretty full, hopefully come November/December I'll be asking for the matching bottom blue box for my birthday or Christmas!!

Here's what the outside looks like. I turned stickers into magnets....I didn't have the heart to permanently stick them on!!

The top 3 drawers have the newer Channellock screwdrivers in them. 1st drawer on left has precision Channellock screwdrivers along with 2 bottle openers. The middle draw has most of the new Channellock screwdrivers and the right draw has the small Channellock pliers. #45 & #47 along with the empty #48 pouch from Jeff Moss!!

The 2nd drawer down has all the NOS screwdrivers that I have. The drawer contains #'s: 52, 55CH, 58, 72, 74, 110H, 107CH, P241, SA2, SL2, 906SP, MX41, RV41

The 3 drawer down consists of mostly cutters, needle nose pliers. It contains the following #'s: 738, 728, 447, 437, 436, 318, 337, 3026, 326, 386, 356, 357, 907, 907GT.

The 4th drawer down has mostly water pump pliers, slip joint and lineman pliers which contain #'s: 348, 369, 3047, 516, 546, 410, 415, 420, 424, 426, 440.

The bottom drawer is mostly nut driver, clippers, torx sets, wrench and open stock Channellocks that I use more often than the NOS stuff. The NOS stuff is part #'s: TX4PK, TX6PK, 810, 607, 610D, Nut Drivers in clam shell, 2 sets of Channellock Locking Pliers in clam shell.

More NOS stuff on the way!!

OK, I've only seen one other CL hammer in the thread after a search, and it was not wooden handled. Here are my two, a one oz, and a 10 oz. Interestingly neither were painted CL blue... The 10 is black, and the 1 is red! :shocking:

for some reason, i keep forgetting to pic and post my hammers.
and, for some reason, channey decided to paint their shillelaghs red.

Now you have no excuses! You know the drill!

okie dokie.............. i know, the red isnt the correct shade........... im color blind, so, it doesnt matter to me. yep, i know 1 handle is incorrect. so what, she's a peg board queen.
a channellock stamped 18oz, and a champion de'arment 24 oz.the champion was sold to me by Don. the champ isnt stamped deep, and the paint kinda covered over what was readable.
