Hey Travis,

How about a collection update? How many NOS pliers/cutters/etc. in the pouch do you have now? How about a few "family photos?"

not sure if anyone collects/enjoys the older Channellocks, but here is one older pair and a set from W Germany that I picked up recently in a box of old tools:

I haven't own any other channellocks other than their locking pliers. But I got to give them credit, they get the job done.

Your talking about the mod. 910 with one handed use and little blue knob for a handle? if so those are not common.

I have made a lot of money with the Channellock tools I bought over the years, and never had a failure. Hard to beat for the price.

I was using my straight 6-1/2" t&g's today re-running my sprinkler hoses. I got to thinking I probably would be able to carry me a pair of these, or better yet the v-jaw 6-1/2" t&g's, and find them useful a couple of times per week for odd things/etc at work. That, or just leave a pair at work. V-jaws seem to make the max opening just a little more handy.

I was told this by one of my dad's customers and I don't believe it

Well, the sockets and ratchets are made in Taiwan, the adjustable wrenches made in Spain by Irega, and the Code Blue screwdrivers are Chinese. But the rest is American

Does anyone know if the Channellock 910 cable and wire cutters can cut thru the wires of a chain link fence?

I have zero experience with the #910, so evaluate my answer with that in mind. The Channellock website says they'll cut 1/8" mild steel rod. Standard chain link fence seems pretty soft and it's about 1/8" in diameter, so I'm gonna say the #910 could cut it. If I had to try it, I would do so without fear of damaging the tool. Just my guess. Let us know how it goes if you give it a try.

Why not the #85 fencing pliers? The 910 looks like my Felco C7 cutters which are meant more for aircraft cable and piano wire.

Fence Pliers are for things like barbed wire and other softer and possibly smaller fencing materials so I would be hesitant about using those.

BW are you cutting the lighter "homeowner" chain link, or the heavier industrial stuff?

Yeah the fence pliers are mainly for 12.5 gauge wire. It looks like homeowner chain link is 11.5 gauge and commercial is 9 gauge so I'm not sure how well they would hold up to that.
