I saw in the flier from my local hardware store some Channelock Wet/Dry Vacuums. I thought of this thread. I didn't know these existed. Probably the same as many other vacuums, but have the blue color.
There is a line of different vacuums by CL.

"Channellock Products" is licensed stuff sold by DoItBest. It is mostly made overseas. Your link is to the "Channellock Products" website. The Channellock website is different. --> https://channellock.com/

Channellock.com is the main company website with the USA made pliers and screwdrivers and a few things that are sourced from Taiwan or China.

Channellockproducts.com is the website with the licensed stuff sold by DoItBest.

those look like the USA made pliers selection Channelock is most known for.

I just linked the vacuum page in case some here wanted to match their vacuum with their pliers. It was new to me when I saw it in the flier. I have a few CL pliers, nowhere near the enthusiasm as some posting here. I did search this thread and I didn't really see a reference to these vacuums.

DoItBest sells Channellock in addition to licensed products that are given Channellock branding but are not made by Channellock. DoItBest just pays a fee and slaps the Channellock brand on cheap imports. It seems to be an effective marketing strategy since many folks on the forum have confused them as the same. I suppose companies wouldn't pay for licensing if it didn't work. ;)

Sure enough. I never thought for a second that Channellock "made" wet/dry vacs. Maybe that wasn't clear from my original post. I do think that some Channellock fans here may buy one of those if they were in need of a wet/dry vac. Either that or buy some blue paint and some stickers and go at you the one you already have. Probably not much different.

Picked these up yesterday with the Menard's 15% bag sale. They were already marked down from $40 to $25 and bag sale took the last one on the shelf down to $21.25

NKlamerus .. could you give us a top view of the rack.. interesting storage concept.... and nice collection..
Yes, next time im in the shop I'll grab one

It is a peice of universal closetmaid wire shelving (model # 4718) that I cut about 3" back from the front edge, and flipped upside down.

The wire spacing is 1", which is also most pegboard spacing, the cut ends stick through the pegboard and I just bent them upwards once through. The pegboard I'm using is the "better stuff", hardened, MDL lined, and 1/4" holes instead of 1/8"

Holds great, works well for crescent wrenches too, I like that it's rubberized and white, almost need a second row!

I see, I was crossed up. Mmy spread sheet had an error calling the 420/422 at 10" The ubiquitous 420 is a 9", and the 422 is the curved jaw version of the 420. both 9". The 430 and your 432 are 10"...

Hi it’s a long time between posts on this subject I spoke to Mr Neophyte, He said it would be cool to add to the thread .
in photo 1 is a picture of the two channellock 3248 pliers with hard tenite grips , These were issued for evaluation in 1991 by the Australian agent asking for input prior to importing the first shipment. They were EXCELLENT! (The heads were clearly punched with 3248 on the front and chanellock on the back , )I Could not fault them , I put the second pair in my collection. The first and second photo show them ,note there is no voltage rating on them . They have just 1 skin unlike the Cementex pliers .
After a short period the product was changed the grips were changed to a softer compound PVC with a marked 1000 volt rating , they are a single skin plier ,and highly favoured by most electricians and currently have market ********** , the markings were etched instead of stamped and added to the range 8 inch cutters and long nose around 96,
see the photo , the other photo I have included is the Marvel copy. Japanese very well made ( marvel have sold tools here since 1981 and were the first to combine a crimper in their pliers ). To sum up the channellock product is a high quality, highly affordable and loved plier.
I Have bought the 348 vde linesman plier newly offered by chanellock, they are a lot lighter but lack a crimpe, but still a very nice product.
thank you for reading my rant .

Jeff, that's a rhetorical question, right? Because we'll use em on live **** and then sue them. Just like we do when installing a new receptacle, light switch or dimmer in the house. Right?

I wonder why they don’t sell insulated tools here in the states
Would it it be because of lawsuits at some stage ? Certifying the insulation ? I notice neither crescent USA sells insulated tools but the do throughout the pacific nations . I found a advertisement from 1954 in which channellock offer plastic grips as after market accessories I will add it to the post .
regards A ( bottom right hand corner)

Your on the money , ( I see cementex , Insulated Channellock , crescent and other firms tools for the USA market around the same time crescent dropped the tenite grips in the USA around 97 ) lawyers, here in around 95 crescent, chanellock rated their tools and sold them as certified for electrical work to 1kv .

Channellock used to sell an insulated 1000v line in the US.
The handles were typical Channellock blue, but thicker, with the insulating job done gor Channellock by Cementex(grips were marked by Cementex and presumably they did the certification and testing)
The 1000v line was carried by Grainger and Lab Safety Supply( or whatever the company was called) and possibly by MSC and McMaster-Carr etc.
Amazon used to have the pliers, which I think they might have gotten with their purchase of Small Parts.
Channellock later dropped the 1000v range, although Cementex and Salisbury still offer insulated Channellock pliers under their own branding.
(Crescent also made 1000v tools, although I think these were insulated by someone other than Cementex) (This was back when Crescent pliers were US made)

Klein and Knipex sell fully insulated tools here :)
Klein has been here for a very long time Klein was here with the dipped product in the 70s , and brought their vde range here around 2013 , ( however we did import some of the Klein 1000 v range around 2008 the ones with the full orange grips Along with the journey man j12098 both very nice quality tools ) The cementex products look very good, I guess they were at a premium price . Regards A

Hi here are the Klein 12908 I mentioned in previous post
the journey man middle pair have done a lot of work but are sharp like the day they were new , the pair on the left went dull after 12 months and were retired. The pair on the right are still in use . But if someone said to me what was the best pliers you owned in the last 40 years , I think the middle pair .
other older guys have fallen in love with them , the young Irish electricians that work for me tell me the master tradesman In Ireland love them , obviously Klein got it right .
