It's that time of year that I must tear down and overhaul about 60 fishing reels. In the interests of making the job somewhat easier, I was curious if anyone else makes a decent miniature screwdriver like the no longer available Snap On ssdmrm/sgrmini? I have lots of Wiha, Moody and General miniatures but I am always interested in evaluating new and potentially better tools. The miniatures from Snap-On are appealing because they use a replaceable blade system which keeps the shanks thin and narrow versus a bit style which of course has a flared end. I do use the Dremel variable speed lithium driver which has been a great speed enhancer but I still prefer to torque down manually.

Thanks in advance

I can't find it on the website but I think Lowes offers something similar. Its Basically a set of the smaller sizes that then fit into one of their 1/4" hex handles. the shank is probably 5" long. Maybe you will have better luck online. Hope this helps

EDIT Here i found it, or at least one option

EDIT Found another one where the it ratchets yet the bits sit inside the shank with no obvious flaring. Ok I'm out.

Sig,

Thanks for the info, unfortunately the shank diameter is still too thick. Much appreciated nonetheless.

Anyone else have any ideas, thx

You could piece one together between wera and wiha bits the handle size won't be much smaller. Are you sure the kobalt variants are too large in diameter? The shank is turned down to the minimum needed to form the head just like the snap on units pictured above. :dunno:
