I have 3/8" impacts from 7mm - 22mm and 5/16" - 1". I almost never use chrome unless it's for 1/4" drive

Putting stuff back together, hubcaps, anytime I'd use a ratchet/breaker bar really in 1/2. Places the air hose doesn't reach, lol.

My impacts are the Harbor Freight Pittsburgh variety used soley for nut busting with impact or breaker bar. Strong but the walls are too thick for anything else. If I ever get around to Grey Pneumatic, the rule will probably change.

At work I only have sunnex impacts in 3/8" and 1/2". They are very thin wall for impacts that I don't miss chrome ones. Even had home, I try to stick to impacts in 6 point and chrome in 12. There are several sets I only own in impact because I never needed 12 in that range.

I rarely use my 1/2" pneumatic impact and when I do, it is usually for removing log nuts so I use my Sunex flip lug nut set.

Everything else, I use chromys. 98% of the time 3/8" drive, 9% of the time 1/4". The rest is 1/2", usually on a long breaker bar.

I only use 1/2" drive impact/ sockets. I have a heavy duty gun and a light duty 1/2" (both cp) that weighs next to nothing and is small, a 2763 Milwaukee and another battery powered 1/2" at home. I see no use on buying and storing another set of impact sockets (3/8" dr.)

I only use chrome for 1/4 and when it's called for due to limited access. Outside of that I impact sockets, there's no point in taking up space in my cart with chrome and impact sockets.

Didn't plan on it, but I knew I'd need 1/2" impacts and decided to spend my money elsewhere rather than duplicate them in chrome sockets. Then I realized I never missed them.

I even replaced my 1/4" sockets with impacts, and put my chromes and old 3/8" impacts in my truck for a road set. Only chrome in my box is a complete set of 3/8" 6 points and deep 12 points.

Haven't got a complete set of impacts but the ones I have get used with ratchets a lot. Chrome holds up fine to impact on the occasion I need to use an impact gun which isn't often

Sold all my 1/2" metric chrome and currently trying to sell all my 1/2" SAE chrome. Also got rid of all but one set each of 3/8" chrome (12pt). Only really use chrome in 1/4" drive at this point.

I'm thinking about buying the grey pneumatic duo sets which are for impact and ratchets and are thinner than most impacts but still soft. I've seen some snap on sockets at flea market that are silver and black like the GP duo ones and can't find any info on them checked everywhere it seems. I thought about buying those but don't know if they are worth getting if they were great snap on would still sell them.

I'm the same way. I have a nice set of chrome sockets up to 32 or 33mm, but rarely ever use them...I always grab for the impact sockets.

I still use chrome because they are thinner and because they are in same drawer as ratchets and extensions. Impact sockets are in separate drawer and usually only get used on impact wrench. Instead of buying thin wall impacts or 12 point impacts, I'll keep using the chrome sockets I already own.

I hardly ever use 1/2" drive, though I do have pretty complete sets of chrome 12 point SAE standard and deep and a Hansen tray of impact 6 point SAE. Just standard 12 point metrics as of now. Both my impact wrenches are 3/8" drive...
