NIB the thing had 2 dead batteries in its "6V/900mAh" pack. I threw it on my RC charger and it took nearly 2000 mAh. Oddly still had only 4.1V. Checked each cell and 3 were at 1.3V and 2 were dead (.2V) Oddly I figured these cells would show 1.5V each when fully charged. Which would bring me to around 7.5V. This got me thinking about using some of the tons of spare 18650s I have around. 2 of them in series is ~8.40V and a ton more capacity. And they fit into the housing perfectly after taking out the holder for the NiCads. The solar panel was outputting 9V in my garage under bright LEDS but only 2mA oddly. Not exactly sure of the current output of those panels. I'm going to give this a go and see if the charging circuitry in here has a problem w/ this setup or not. Has anyone else tried this? I googled but didn't find much.
