I'm in the process of buying a property that has one of the most "questionable" single car garage add-ons I've ever seen. The house already has a two car garage, but the P/O decided to through up a single car garage addition that had me scratching my head.

Anyone else ever been in this position?

How bad is this thing?
You could always use it as a shed if you don't trust it as a garage

So what's the problem?

If it's a POS or you don't like it, knock it down and send it somewhere else in a dumpster.

Never been in your position, but your statement has me wondering why you are paying for something that obviously has problems. If you don't like the added garage, have the seller remove it as a condition of sale, otherwise you'll be stuck with it, and it may need to be demolished to pass code. Who pays for that??

I had to have a detached garage removed after putting up an attached garage.

Detached garage was in real bad shape.

Needed: Demolition permit from town.
Asbestos inspection (had it in roofing mastic.)
Contractor to remove asbestos.
Contractor to remove asbestos free rest of garage.

Garage had to go because new garage was a limit of permitted garage sq. footage (900 sq. ft.)

I think buying that house then demolishing an attached garage is a bag of worms you should avoid.
