Post a pic.... I'm curious. I'll post mine. It's yellow clear plastic with Toyota on one side and Made in Japan on the other.

Interesting, I have a German made Felo screwdriver just like that.

I wonder who copied who?

Japanese probably....

It looks like an early example to me, looking at google images for the Landcruiser and FJ40/55/60 it comes up but without the Japanese character in the middle. That same character comes up on some Landcruiser/FJ toolboxes though. I'm thinking it's an early tool kit item. Maybe I'll throw it on feebay and see what happens.

Toolhorder,

The Japanese character トヨタ is literally Toyota.

I got a few トヨタ double open ended wrenches--the ones that came with the auto kit.

cool, I wish I knew what kit it fits. If it was from a Landcruiser or FJ40 I'm sure I could pull a few dollars out of it. It's worthless to me as a real tool to be honest.

I also pick up "Yamaha" branded stuff. I found a combo wrench today as a matter fact. Some of the motorcycle guys will pay a premium for a correct tool kit for a vintage bike.

Absolutely. There are collectors out there for almost anything, including your screwdriver to complete someone else's auto kit.

It's because when written in katakana, Toyota requires 8 strokes (very lucky) and Toyoda requires 10 strokes (unlucky).

I better find a power steering cap that says "Toyota" then and toss the "Toyoda" one. Can't have that unlucky cap under my hood! lol

So, are all the tools from "kits" , or could you just buy a wrench if you wanted to.

Yes and yes....sort of. I worked in a Toyota dealer parts dept. just out of high school, many years ago. Many but not all of these tools were shown individually in the parts books and could be ordered. At one time I had several complete kits in their vinyl pouches as well as the factory screw type bottle jack that came in the early trucks and Landcruisers.

Never seen a grease gun that I can remember but would guess it was probably part of a service tool set for dealership mechanics.

Aren't that common over here, you find spanners and pliers every now and again... I have just purchased the pliers and a spanner, and a few more are on the way. Will do just fine for my wife's Toyota, and for my Toyotas in the future.

Thought I would restart this eleven-year-old thread! Here are a couple photos of a recent Toyota screwdriver find.

The early landcruiser had a black steel tool box and from memory with a set of open end spanners , pliers wooden handle screws drivers and some other tools may be chocks for the wheels and tools to change them and may be a spark plug spanned . I have the tool box was my dads and he scored a couple about 1970 I only have one my brother has the other
