I buy stuff off of Ebay fairly often. If the shipping is around $20 or less, I usually don't hesitate buying it. I could easily spend that much driving around, hitting up the flea markets trying to find deals. All of the big flea markets are up in Indianapolis. They ones where I live are pretty tapped out.

I used to ...then I found out after getting some tools that the sellers description of the condition of their tool as being in " fair, good, or excellent condition... was very subjective.

Just bought a Knipex pliers wrench on eBay. $31.50 shipped. Looking forward to getting it and seeing if they are worth the money and deserve the hype.

Since there are so many people that buy large sets and break them up on eBay, you can buy a small sampling to test the waters and see if it is worth a larger purchase in the future. Larger purchases of new tools I can generally find on store websites on sale cheaper if I wait long enough and am diligent.

O yeah, like others have said be mindful of prices and what it is worth.

It's always a good day when I intercept the mail before the wife does when the packages arrive, otherwise you get the "what did you buy now and how much did that cost?"

All I can say is be very careful on eBay. I just bid last night on what was supposed to be a brand new 2235TiMax. Says "2235TiMax" in the title, and has a stock photo of a 2235TiMax as well. Scroll down and read the description carefully again today, and it says 2135TiMax. If I win I'm not paying for it, because the seller was clearing being purposefully misleading putting a photo of a 2235 AND actually typing "2235" in the title, so there will likely be a dispute. But, to save yourself trouble, just know there are some pricks out there. Other than that, there are some good deals to be found.

Has anyone here ever shopped for tools on Ebay? I sometimes will find something really great there.
That's the only place I shop. although I go to some of the vendors main sites to look around and get part numbers to compare.

Another reason why eBay lures me is because people will go there to sell specials that only the truck dealers carry. A good example is the Snap-on Pink stuff or the anniversary ****; there is no way I can obtain except eBay or here.

On the contrary, some people try to sell the Snap-on Buy one get this free stuff for the combined retail.

I always look at the ending auctions for the truck brands everyday. I too have almost been had though. It pays to read descriptions and compare the pictures to it. I stay away from the ones with low reviews also

I browse ebay regularly for tool deals. Some real scores to be had there if you constantly search for thing you are interested in. My last ebay tool purchase I saved 60% off the retail price and the item was brand new. Get creative with the way you input search terms and often you'll find items that are getting overlooked.

I've noticed that as well. Some sellers there are real crooks, but thankfully they are only the minority.

I bought an old USA made tool box and the seller listed this lightly used as the exterior was was still in great condition, but turns out the inside was completely rusted out and while I was able to save this, I don't intend buying anymore boxes unless I can see the inside. Then again though, Stack-On still makes USA made metal tool boxes, so there really is no incentive in buying vintage toolboxes for me.

I enjoy cleaning up an old tool and putting this back into service, but this is time consuming and sometimes does cost money. Hence why, unless this is no longer made in America and actually need this or really want this, I don't buy much on eBay anymore.
