5.5 mm is quite common on HVAC actuator bolts and trim pieces on late model Ford & GM vehicles. i don't recall ever using 4.5 mm though.

Only once. The trim on the window pillar on my ‘03 grand Cherokee was held on with bolts with 4.5 mm or 5.5 mm heads.

I don't remember where I've used them. However, looking at the sockets, both have been used at some point in time over the last 40 to 50 yrs. For what it's worth.

5.5mm is useful for certain (some? many?) GM ignition modules. These would be the ones that reside inside the distributor cap; I can't remember now, but the DIS ones might be 7mm.

Not sure if I have ever used them or not but they were needed to complete my Hansen Socket Organizers.

I've never came across one (that I know of). Would a SAE size be pretty close to a 4.5mm and a 5.5mm?

I find 5.5 on a lot of imported electrical devices. I believe its the M3 standard. But 7/32" also fits and Ive gotten a ton of those from surplus stores.

Interior screws on my F250 are either 4.5 or 5.5 can't remember which. Do remember my "good" set of sockets didnt include those sizes but a cheaper set I had did. Go figure.

The plastic wiper cowling on my Saturn is held on with three 4.5 or 5.5 mm and two plastic push pins. Same for the sheetmetal screws that hold the speakers in the rear deck and door kick panels.

not hex, but I have needed a Torx 5.5 a few times. EXTREMELY hard to find size. I did find one in a cheap bit set, but I am still looking for a quality made T 5.5 bit.

I have used my 5.5 socket a couple times, but it has been years ago. I dont think I have ever used a 4.5.

I know I've used the 4.5mm exactly once, but I can't remember exactly what it was for. The 5.5mm has never been touched.

Just used my 4.5 mm socket repairing a lamp socket. It was held together with a small machine screw with a small nut on the back. Just had to report its use since I read this thread the other day.

Ive got 1/4" drive down to 4mm but I still need those 15mm for the other end. Need a 1/4" 5/8 too. Bugs me to see an empty spot. LOL

I've needed one in the past but can't remember why, yesterday I needed a 4.5mm hex key to work on a French tandem, is that close enough?
