Good machine IIRC it is roughly equivalent to the syncrowave 250. L-Tech, was Linde then I think turned into Esab or something like that. :headscrat
Anyway, if it works, great, but parts can be hard to find and $ to obtain.

Make sure they have the pedal with it. Also make sure to take it for a test run before purchase. You are going to need a 220v, 50amp minimum breaker for that, more like 80amp+ if you want to run it full bore all 300 amps. :shocking:

I just picked up a L-Tech plasma last weekend. So, I've been reading about them on the internets. L-Tech was part of Linde, made good stuff, then sistered with ESAB. Later L-tech wasn't as great. Yours is.

ESAB master website will have your manual and diagrams.

Some say parts are no longer available, but they are. If you don't know, read up on welder maintenance and how important it is to keep the machine clean and lubed. Get a cover or make one.

Keep us updated!

lol....everything zkling said. And yes, foot pedal should come with it. Check for the infamous crack on the underside of the pedal from people dropping it on concrete.

And zkling, are you in my brain, bro?

EDIT 2: Jim, how much are they asking? zkling...what do you think is a fair price for that machine?

Good machines. Very heavy. Requires 100amp in for full capacity, but will do most anything you need on half that. Here is a pic of mine. Mike

One thing to check, I'm not positive what that PF means on the end of the model. I hope it doesn't mean power factor corrected. :headscrat

1953 Mercury, what year is your machine?

Edit, yea I'd say that is fair for what you get, just make sure it works properly. Check who owns the tank and when yo can get it filled and make sure to check the data plate for the PF issue I mentioned above. Other than that it is a solid unit.

Yes, the "pf" does mean power factor corrected.

And a little more background on L-TEC:

When Union Carbide chose to get out of the welding equipment and industrial gases business back in the mid-1980s after the Bhopal disaster in India, their Linde Air Products (gases) and Linde (equipment) divisions became two independent companies.

In 1985, Union Carbide's Linde equipment division became L-TEC (Linde, Purox, Oxweld and Prest-O-Lite brands). Then in 1989, L-TEC was purchased by ESAB.

At the same time, the Linde Air Products division became Praxair, which is still in business under that name.

Please excuse me while I have a small moment of pride ::rocker::

On a serious note, J king, since that is a PFC machine, check the data plate. The idle current is usually drastically higher due to the caps. You more than likely can remove them, but just a heads up. I wonder what size breaker the current owner has it on.
