I picked this up at a garage sale yesterday for $20. Worm drive 8" Cummins "Power Saw" model 905. Can't find any information at all on it. I found a Cummins power tool catalog from 1960 but it isn't listed.

Also included is a pic of a long C Miter for a table saw that was stuck in the box with the saw. If anyone needs one for a resto just PM me and it's yours.

I had one of those a LONG time ago. I was a beast! It grew legs when I was with my my ex, pretty sure she sold it.

Twertsy: i'm guessing Cummins was a quality tool company before they started making cheap imported tools. it does look like quality. how big is the blade and how does it run?

maybe if you look under Cummins engines maybe some more tool company stuff will appear?

Drives,
Not sure if they are the same company? Perhaps. It has an 8" blade and runs very strong. Oiled up the worm before I tried it and she purrs. Here's a link to the only power tool related info I can find on Cummins. Link to Cummins Cat

I believe that Cummins was a subsidiary of John Oster Manufacturing.

I see that you have a paper owners manual. Usually you can find a bunch of info based on the publication date and references to patents and trade marks.

Hey, Twertsy, I'd love to have that miter gauge ... but since the only C'man tool I have from that vintage is a planer, wouldn't be right. Someone will have a proper table saw to mate with it. Very generous offer.

Yeah Bob, no biggie. Someone has claimed it so I'm glad it'll go to someone who's missing a part. I don't have any need for it (not that that has stopped me from hoarding stuff before).

This saw was made by Fred Wappat company. Probably the same as their A8 model.

I had a Wappat. Great saw. Size of blade isn’t as much a problem as size of hole in the blade. I had a SawCat that had an eight inch blade but the arbor hole was an odd size. Another great saw.
