I'm in the market for a workbench or two. I'm debating between a couple of benches from either Grainger or American Workbench.

http://www.americanworkbench.com

I know at least one member has one from American Workbench. He had written me a lengthy pm about his experience. He had a few concerns with the finish. Anyone else? The ones I'm looking at from Grainger are Tennsco and Edsal. Both have steel structures with maple butcher block tops. The Tennsco is more than the Edsal but has adjustable height legs while the Edsal is stuck at 34" which is a little low. Debating whether the American Workbench is worth it. Building one is out since I don't have the time or inclination. 30" depth and maple tops are required. Thanks.

Most on here build one ... I have built a few woodworking benches. I actually took a weeklong class a few years ago to build one .. Philadelphia furniture workshop. The link above to americanworkbench is still good. They look fine and are priced well .. especially when compared to lie nielsen. I built a LN type bench

I brought up this website a couple of years ago, got no response either. They're nice benches, but the cost far exceeds the need, besides, it's more fun to build your own.

Just saw this string after all these years! I have 2 of their Workbenches. One of them is a Woodworking bench and the other is my reloading bench. I see one of the other members said they had a finish issue. They do all of the Stain & Poly by hand so there are a few places where there is a bit more accumulation but that adds to the character. I have had my Reloader since 2010. The great thing is, I can sand the top every year, wipe it with Polyurethane and it looks like new again. Also they are custom, not off the shelf , so you can get the height the way you want it, and they engrave the bench so you can hand it down.
