To me it looks like the battery will get in the way. Requiring you to use extensions often.

Wrong brand for you but if they are anything like my Panasonic 14v brushless impact you'll be impressed. Powerful, compact, no sparks, no smell. Had it 2 years and no problems.

There's nothing wrong with the Milwaukee Fuel.
I bought the drill a few weeks ago. It is simply amazing. It has a much power as my 1/2" corded DeWalt. The overload protection will instantly stop the motor to protect it. That's really neat in the "2" speed. On "1", it will still feel like it is going to tear your hands off at the wrists if you lock it up. There's a reason it comes with the side handle (which is something I've NEVER had a use for in a cordless drill before).
The first job I did with it, was to use a 1" twist drill, to put a hole in a piece of 3/8" mild steel. On the "1" speed, pushing as hard as I could (braced against something that I could push off of), all I had to do was pull the trigger, and watch the chips keep coming out of the hole. I was simply unable to stop the bit with any amount of pressure.

The link you supplied, was to the impact. I played with that at an HD display, and was seriously impressed. It has three speeds. Kind of an electronic speed range.
At the moment, I only have 12V Bosch impacts.
#1 on the 18V fuel goes real slow. Nice for not damaging screws (same results I would get on the 12V Bosch, if I teased the trigger).
#2 is a little faster. It reaches about where the Bosch is all out.
#3 feels like it will be fine on looser lugnuts. I was driving 1/2" lags into 2x4s with ease, and blasting 3/4" holes through them as if I were using a much larger drill.

Now, here is a catch. If you want the maximum torque out of the drill, you need to buy it with the larger batteries. With the impact, either size battery will get you the maximum results.

The Milwaukee M18 Fuel line is the most technologically advanced cordless line out on the market today. Milwaukee is on their 7th generation of Li-ion batteries. I have handled the motor and components to the fuel drill and was very impressed. They had to give up on their torture test after thirty-some thousand holes into metal plate(forget the size).

I sell Milwaukee because I use Milwaukee.

I picked up the Fuel drill/driver/hammerdrill a couple months ago. The last thing I needed was another drill. I messed with the display unit at the store and was totally sold. The kicker was the extra free XC battery. I've used the drill for several smallish projects so far and have only recently swapped the first battery out. Color me impressed with the battery life. Lots of power, on par with my DeWalt and Bosch hammerdrills if not a bit more.

Bought the Milwaukee fuel impact driver a short while ago and gout a bunch of free extra batteries and whatnot. So impressed with it that I'm picking up the drill the next time I'm in the city.

People are mentioning getting free extra batteries. Are there any deals right now with extra batteries?

I bought my impact from the Milwaukee rep that was set up at HD. The deal was if you bought a brushless tool you'd get a free 1/4 impact with the old technology. I already had one so I negotiated 2 extra extended run batteries.

Ive got the Makita brushless kit with an impact driver and a drill and they both work flawlessly. The deal Home Depot had was you buy the kit and you get an extra battery free. That was good on the Makita and the Milwaukee. I went with the Makita because of the extensive list of tools that use the LXT battery.

If I remember right, Milwaukee has at least 30-35 tools that go with their M18 line. Not sure if that's more or less than Makita, but it seems like a pretty good sized tool line.

I like Makita, but I think in many cases you get at least as good of tools from Milwaukee, and usually at a better price.
