Need more pix from different angles.

Or, in Steve Martin's words on SNL:

What is that thang? Oh, I know what that is. What? What is that anyway?

I saw this posted Facebook, so only pic. Beats the **** out me what it does. Don't if (rear pic) it might have something to do cutting sawed off plastic pipe, then in and shaved (the blade showing) nice clean straight edge?

I haven't the foggiest idea. But it looks as if there may be a piece missing because the left end of the horizontal thumbwheel looks to be made to have something attached to it .... or not!!

A good mystery!

Looks like it would mark/score pipe at a set distance from the end. Doesn't it look like the depth adjustment is in line with what would be the bottom edge of a pipe held by the two brackets?

I was thinking the same purpose. I think the depth adjustment screw would have had a floating centre point or pad like a G clamp.

Agree. The depth limiting screw appears to have a slight flare towards the end, could have had a pad on it I think. Wish we had additional views of this thing.

A guess at best. I would describe that as a wheel spoke tool. Back turn of the century. By hand turn each spoke the knife scribes the Spoke to the correct depth then shave by hand to fit hole in hub or wheel. Just thinking out loud.

a hand powered valve facer
Bob

I think you nailed it. I have a modern hand powered one and though smaller, it is very similar in design.

it is missing the crank handle that clamps on to the valvestem.

edit: added a pic, not my pic but the same model as mine.
