Would love to find a tool that would allow me to search various Craigslist's (or even very region specific) to alert me to certain items I'm looking for without having to logon to CL. Even something that could e-mail me findings in "Digest" form. Anyone know if such a program exists? Thanks:thumbup:

I used to use List-Alert Craigslist search/alert service, but I see it's no longer in operation...so no idea what to use anymore.

Like I said: http://www.searchtempest.com/

Allows you to input your search terms, a "distance" setting and pick a category to search. Then returns all of the CL area listings within your distance setting.

Ive even found tools and stuff 4+ states away.....youd be surprised how many people are willing to ship stuff, especially if you provide a pre-paid label.

I wish in Craigs List I could sort for "nearest to me". We live in a small town and most postings of interest are an hour away and further.

A few years back, someone came up with site called Craig Look, at least I think thats what the name was. All you had to do is enter a zip code and search radius. Then craigslist had the site shut down.

When looking for local stuff, I just type in the name of the town I'm looking in. All items referenced to that town show up.

I used to love that site. Was so mad when it got taken down...

like others have said, searchtempest. works great on a computer, terrible on mobile.

on android, use the app 'postings for craigslist'.
it lets you set multiple cities to search in (they dont have to be nearest either). the app used to be even better but recent 'updates' lost some features.

I use the cPro Craigslist app. Its easy to use and only $3. Load up all the cites around you and search or set up email alerts.

I use Csmart. No complaints, in fact, i find it more thorough and user friendly than many of the other app or website. You can search all CL markets in the US and Cananda at once, save the searches and set up notifications. I've only seen it available in the Apple app store though. Not sure if its supported for Android or any other platform.

I use Search Tempest. I'm not sure if it does email notifications, but I've never tried.

Now Craigslist has an email alert option. I have it set to email me on a few keywords for local areas. It isn't instant, but seems to work well.

I use Searchtempest on a regular basis. the only issue I have with it is that it returns a lot of dead/deleted links.

In Google, type:

site:craigslist.org/tls keywords

So if you are looking for a drill press, search

site:craigslist.org/tls drill press

Searchtempest misses a lot of listings. I use it, but when you go to the local CL page you will get hits that Searchtempest missed.

onecraigs.com will search them all

It's a little clumsy, and I don't know a way to automate it. I think it just uses google's engine for the search, but it's the best way I've found so far to search them all.

You can run the same search two or three times, one after another in SearchTempest, and get different results! ;)

you can also just simply log into your Craigslist account. Make a search, then hit "save search".

Then go into your searches and turn on notifications for that search. You'll get an email every time something new posts within your search. - Just do this for every city or area you want to watch.
