anyone have a worklight that they actually like?

It seems like I've been through more work lights than you can count.

I'm tired of using the corded lights under the hood so I'm looking for a good rechargeable one. But I'm really concerned for my sanity. If I happen to buy another one and it doesn't work any better than the junk I've been using, I swear I'm going to go crazy!

requirements are:
-bright
-good flood light pattern, but having a spot option would be nice as well
-good battery life
-120v/12v recharge options
-strong magnet or clamp system that allows you to position where you want it and have it stay there!
-obviously value is a high priority. Don't want to spend a fortune, but am willing to pay for quality.

So what are you guys using that seems to work well?

for working on cars I really like the stream light. It does not have a flood option but the light is very bright. comes with a wall mounted charge dock with a spare battery that has its own charger on the dock. definitely good battery life and it is very durable (lots of drops as well as fluid coverage). no magnet or clamp though and it is pricey at ~$150. I was skeptical at first about the price, but having now owned one its definitely worth the price to me no question.

I really love using a stream light too. It's not going to hook to anything but i still use it 90% of the time.

I have the bayco rechargeable from walmart ( 30.00 ) lasts 4 hours on a charge led with spot light as well. has a hook for hanging and a magnet . I use it all the time. works great.

I just bought a Central Tools Bouncelight. It uses a florescent bulb, and has a 25 foot cord. It was cheap, its durable and bright! I have enjoyed using it so far. I got sick of my batteries draining and the light going dim in the middle of a job, which is why I went with a corded light this time.

I bought a flourescent drop light from WalMart. Don't know the brand, but it's rugged, has a "flashlight" head, I've abused it and it was only $10 (I think). I'd buy another if this one broke, but it's held up well. Has a cord, though. I don't have good luck with battery tools.

The Craftsman Nextec fluorescent is my new favorite. It has magnets on the back, a hook on the top and uses a common bulb. I have enough batteries from all the DOD purchases to keep it running forever. It also has a battery gauge.

I went to Sears last weekend and they had 2 on clearance for $13. I now have 2 and gave the third to my dad.

I don't think a single light can meet all of my needs.

I use a streamlight polystinger LED as my main super bright hand held light. Everything else is dim.

To illuminate an engine compartment, I use a central tools perch light that attaches to a vehicle's hood and turns the darkest engine bay into brightness.

I also have an M12 stick light. It's great for under dash work, stays cool, is quite bright, has a hook & magnet, and shares the M12 battery.

just tossin this one out there, but I'm partial to the blue LED lights that HF sell for about 3 bucks, they have a 24 LED panel and a mag back, they are small enough and cheap enough that you can have them all over the shop so there's always one within reach, and they will fit inside an engine bay and stick to anything steel. I have a couple with old hard drive magnets glued to the back, they don't fall off, usually you have to work at it to get them free.

its expensive but the best light ive found is a bluepoint light. its $110 but is LED(bright as hell), has both 12/120 charger and lasts long, floodlight/spotlight, very strong magnetic base and also pivots 180 degrees, im pretty sure they are lifetime warranty. including the bulbs and battery. id have to double check that but my dealer told me if the bulbs go out or the battery went bad hed give me abrand new unit.

I have always used bayco lights,they have never failed me.No matter how much they get dropped the y keep going and going.But i always have a corded light for back up.Another use full light for me is a pelican brand headlight.Just strap it to your head,hands are free.
