Anyone have an Astro 12SL work light?

I have one but I can't find the charger. I bought it in 2015 so it is the old plug style rather than USB. Can anyone tell me where to find a new charger for it? Or alternatively, what the specs are off of your charger so I can find a universal charger that will work?

Thank you, dnschmidt. I called them up and unfortunately, the charger is no longer made/available. A nice woman named Gloria did give me the specs so I could try to find another one that will work.

Bringing this one back from the dead for a related question. I did find a charger for it, but after using it a while, I'm not sure how to interpret the charging LEDs. There are two on the back of the light: a red one and an amber one. Normally, neither is lit. When I plug the charger into it, the amber one lights solid. I think it's a safe bet that is the 'Charging' light. I'm able to occasionally get the red one to flicker if I have the charger plugged in and turn the light on and off real quick. But other than those 2 things, I've never seen the charge LEDs do anything else.

A full recharge is supposed to take 3 hours. I've charged it for a few hours, but I've never hit the 3 hour mark. Given that I had to buy an aftermarket charger, I've never left it unattended while charging so I've had to unplug it before getting to 3 hours. Astro's documentation is short, though not terrible, but it never mentions the charge LEDs.

All that said, those of you own 12SLs, how have seen the charge lights to work?

Seems to be working fine, the other light is a battery low light if I recall.

My man, you got this light in 2015 LOL, I think you got your money worth and might be time to retire/update.

If I get 2 years out of any brand of wand/stick light I’m super happy

Those rechargeable batteries die if you don't keep them on the charger constantly. You can't just turn it on and then sit it down when you're done. You have to go and put it back on the charger immediately. And that goes for everything from computers to flashlights.

Thanks, folks. I'm just trying to verify how the charge LEDs work so I know what they're trying to tell me. The light itself seems to function perfectly. It's had minimal use since 2015. In fact, I know for certain that, until recently, it had not been charged in over 2.5 years yet still performed flawlessly.

I wish I could say the same for Makita drills, Mac computers, and Streamlight flashlights.

You gotta keep those on the charger or you'll ruin the batteries.

So I was able to spend enough time in the garage at one time to let it get to a full charge. At that point, the amber light turned off. Not an unexpected result, but I'm glad to have confirmation.

I haven't been able to use it long enough to run it down, but I imagine the red light either comes on solid or blinks. I'll keep an eye on it, but at least the mystery of the charge light has been solved.
