Trying to figure out the best setup - I have a HF bead blaster (larger one). Right now I have fresh air cap open and I use a shop vac to remove dust. Thinking of maybe venting it outside so if I don't want to run the shop vac it will dust out the building? Not sure - what do other people have going on?

I have the same cabinet.

Unless you have something to move the air (like your vac does currently), the dust is just going to stay in the cabient and then you can't see a thing...it doesn't matter if it's vented outside or not if the air isn't moving through the cabinet.

Do you know of any purpose built vac or something? I've seen higher dollar machines use them. The shop vac is just so loud and clumsy

I have mine through my shop vac and have the shop vac exhaust routed outside through a dryer vent. works great, i dont run the vac constantly but with the outside vent it's nice not to have the dust in the shop. it also quiets it down. without any vac, i dont think that the dust would clear fast enough to be worth it. worth a shot tho.

I don't know as i haven't really thought about it, but maybe something like this could be used and then vented outside...

..it's not designed for this application so I don't know how well it would work. If you try it let us know how it works!

I tried an inline heater duct fan similar to this. It didn't move any where near enough air to make a difference.

I bought the Harbor Freight blast cabinet vac and it has worked great for me. I have probably 20 hours of blasting with it and it clears my large cabinet quite well. I called to order it and the phone operator gave me 20% off and free shipping so it ended up costing a bit over $100.

Does anyone have a source for replacement windows for the HF blaster?

The Blaster that I have is Not Huge, But it has its own Exhaust Fan built in.
It turns on with the Light switch and Draws the everything through 4 sets of Hanging cloth Bags in the rear compartment of the basting Cabinet.
it has a Shaker Bar to loosen all the trapped dust from the bags and it settles to the bottom for removal.
I have it exhausting outside using a flexable drier hose and Cap.
Keeps everything clear, so I can see what I am working on.
It draws so much that the gloves are pulled straight and you can easily slip your hands right in!
After 20 years of use...I finally emptied Two 5 gallon buckets of the Finest Sand and rust that the buckets were hard to pick up...

(These are not my Pictures...but its the exact same unit.)

I have the same cabinet and its vented outside. What I have done is use a defroster blower to pump air into it to create air movement, then added a 3" pvc vent to the out side.

Mind sharing some pics of how you vented outside? I have the same vacuum and even though it does a great job, still leaves more fine dust in the garage than I would like.

I just ran the outlet hose to a piece of pvc through the wall. I still get a little dust, probably from a little leakage around the hose or cabinet.

I a similar blast cabinet and I use a small Cman shop vac to pull the dust out. Onceit exuts the shop vac, it goes to a pvc roof vent.

I have the HF floor model blast cabinet vented through an Oneida Dust Deputy to a Rigid shop vac. I noticed the Dust Deputy was collecting glass beads, not dust, but full size beads. I put a sheet metal baffle over the opening (spaced out about 1/2 inch from the wall) where the vac hose attaches. Seems the beads flying around inside the cabinet were being sucked out with the dust. I have seen very few beads in the Dust Deputy since adding the baffle. The vac has a HEPA filter so I never get any of the dust back in the shop.

I would suggest that if you decide to vent to the outside that it should go to an area normally unoccupied, and of course not directed at any neighbors. Also, set whatever fan you decide to use to blow into, not pull out of, the cabinet. That eliminates dust buildup on the fan.

I have a Dust Deputy hooked to my shop vac. I have blasted many parts w/o having a dust storm inside my shop. As others just posted this set up coud be adapted to run outside.

I have the same TIP vac on my blaster, I ran the exhaust hose outside using a laundry drier kit from home depot. It works GREAT.
