Came across this rust-oleum paint (7211830) it looks like it would be a good match to repaint S-K socket set boxes. Wondering if anyone had experience using this paint for this purpose, if no one has I might pick up a can and be a guinea pig, beings how I have 2 sets in dire need of paint.

Pretty sure that is the replacement for verde green, if you go through the-vises-of-garage-journal thread you will see it mentioned on around a 150 or so pages there. Good stuff for things that get abused.

I just had an Ace Hardware do a paint match on an SK box, Plomb dark green box, an Indestro box, a Lyon desk drawer, and a PEC square hoping for a good light blue. They won’t be mottled or hammered, but the rust will be gone.

When our weather gets back to reasonable, I may try to spray some.

What era of S-K box? If it's a tools era box could you please share the number for it.

I'm pretty sure I used this box top right. They took the shot off the bottom, as they could not scan the inside. Will verify the victim.

By number do you mean paint number? or box number (which I have no clue yet)?

I repainted my exhaust hood over my stove 10 years ago or longer and it still looks brand new.

I've used it for instrumentation cabinets. The only photo I have is this one of the plastic enclosure for the DRO on my lathe.

Where did you find this paint? I've been looking for hammered paint in colors like green, blue, or red. Does anyone know if these paints can be shipped?

Hey all

In response to a request, here are the paint mix codes. All are in the same neutral base listed first. Which is which should be obvious from the labels. The color donors: SK Tools on the Left, Indestro on the Bottom, Plomb on the right, PEC square in the middle. Shot under an LED bright white (I think) bulb. Trying to shoot them individually really fouled the color renditions up.

Ace Oil Based Enamel Neutral Tint Base Gloss 225B440 (I figure I can add a matte overcoat if they are too shiny)
