anyone have idea about Torque Adapter?

i am thinking about buy torque adapter set or individual one to do what i need for final torque on my harley and even in dealership where limit access as jeep use a lot of 14mm on transfer case.

the snap on torque adapter are SAE set (5/16 to 9/16) which good for my harley...

i am really need 7/16, 1/2, 9/16 for check torque on my harley while every 10,000 miles that what my harley service manual recommend..

anyone have idea about it?

it is metric only... no sae...

i tried to look at ebay and they are close to retail price and i can get cheap price from my snap on guy if i have to to make deal with him... i am trying to dont make any reget...

they are used to touque a fastener to specs where you can't get a tourqe wrench. incidentally andy you may check your bike. the twin cams use a lot of metric fasteners the sae's may not do you any good! i haven't taken my twin cam down but the drain plugs i have pulled to service it were metric.

Use to torque a bolt or nut that is under something that you can not get on.
only two things that come to mine mind right now is Hemi head bolts and the blower bolts..there are many uses for them.

Wow, those are some strong words. My snap on guy is genuinely nice to me. I know the tools are overpriced, but the quality is there, and in my experience, so is the service.

They are not the bad guy it is the dam company..they work for..I see them screw over many dealer.All was nice guys..I have had the same Mac tool dealer for 19 years.and cornwell tools have been very good to me. snap-on service is the wrost..They don't give a dam about the auto tech...Here is one for you..I own 2 snap-on torque wrenchs they are about 15 years old . I wanted them check over and rebuild..they said no ..too old you need to buy new ones, humm I gave them to the Mac man and he send them in and had them rebuild.???
what do think about that..I have spend alot of money with snap-on..that is only one story I would tell you..

in that scenario it would be the dealer not the company. he would stand to make more on the new tool.

i can't say for sure all the fasters are metric just the drain plugs. but i would check before i bought a set.

i did installed new oil pressure gauge kit which i want it for my harley. it require to remove two rear and right side of cylinder head cover bolts. it use 7/16 wrench to do... i tried to use 11mm and it will not get on because it is little too tight to fit in.. so i had to lift the gas tank up like 1 or 1 1/2 inches up to do install kit without remove the gas tank... i can't get torque wrench go in so the torque adapter are way to do it...

It't Katy barr the door now guys! I have finally found a guy with as many poor warranty experiences with Snap-on as I have had............OMG and he is a paid wrench! Look out, one of these bow down and praise threads is gonna start and me and my man here will jump in and have a tag team come to Jesus meetin over just exactly how piss poor their warranty service actually is!

Did you check out Proto? I would check with them first (if it's convenient) it's set # 5100 at Grainger. Otherwise, i would get the Snap on or Matcos - depending on which had teh better price and which dealer services you better.

It would only be used for final tightening with a torque wrench so, I think you would be safe with Proto, Martin, any of the industrial brands. I would type torque adapter into the Ebay search and see what pops out. Good luck,

i did check on ebay (torque adapter) and only one snap on set for like 112 dollars... i would consider about proto because i can get warranty through my mac tool guy but right now i have no mac tool guy....

i am still thinking about proto because MSC direct sell 3/8 to 7/8 set for 126 dollars and snap on sell 5/16 to 9/16 set for 135 dollars... i am don't know what would good for me... i would rather to buy proto but not right now...

Andy, IMO it 's alot of $$ for tools you would use now and then. Why not cut up some craftsman wrenches and weld some 3/8 or 1/2 sockets on the end.

i am understand but i dont have any welds... either i can do hand tight myself but i had big problem with myself as i always rely on Torque Wrench so i can sleep better instead worry too much...

I guess it depends on the bike, but I would think the suspension (possibly Showa), the brakes (maybe Nissin) and the rear axle nut (36mm I think) are the few places you might run into metric fasteners.

I don't see why you would have to spend that much money. I can't think of too many items on a bike that are hard to get to and require a lot of torque. I think you would do just fine to buy a lesser brand. When I rebuilt my bike, I was mostly in the 20ftlb-35ftlb range. I think the stator nut was the largest at around 200ftlbs.

THat's the dealer. My dealer has warrantied many tools that weren't snap-on brand, that she knew damn well I didn't even buy from her. I had a 50 year old torque wrench replaced because it couldn't be calibrated, and they didn't have parts for it anymore. She is at work from midnight-4am on thursday night/friday morning, and 2 pm-5pm friday. Her truck always has several people in it. If you want a price, she gives it to you. If you don't buy it then, she doesn't care, she knows you'll probably be back later. I've brought tools in for repair, that quite obviously were NOT used as intended, and she doesn't so much as raise an eyebrow. She has sent my streamlight in for repair twice, I didn't buy it from her, and all I do is pay $6-7 for shipping. Oh, and she gives a loaner flashlight until it's back. If I'm looking at a tool, but not sure about it, she'll let me demo it for a week and see if I like it.

Yes, it's expensive, but I will pay top dollar for that service.

The dealer before her was a complete jerk. I went to buy $100 of small tools, and he sneered and said "is that all you're getting after I looked up all those prices?" I threw the tools on the floor and said, "no, I'm not even buying these, and for your info, I was going to buy the rest next week" and walked out. He got very few sales, and we have 500 mechanics at work.

along with some Blackhawk 8 point sockets, I'm doing a band adjustment on a 727 transmission in my powerwagon

My good friend (work with me in dealership as part time) he are working for Fed EX maintenance technician as doing what truck need for every 90 days like oil changes, tire rotates, and inspection around of trucks so truck can run for other 90 days... FED EX have three shifts and had about 40 mechanics in Indianapolis... all mechanics working for FED EX are Hourly- employee not flat rate or salary...
