I bought one of these from HJE a few months ago and finally got around to using it. It disengages on the backswing if you are ratcheting fast. Did I get a faulty ratchet?

I think there is a mod that people are doing, with stretching the spring out on it

I don't have one, nor have I been looking to get one, and I know of this issue; must be a common problem.

I would call SK or give Jori a call at HE, I haven’t heard of any issues with the New SK ratchets. It sounds like the same issue i always had with the 60+ tooth Apex ratchets, the selector would get jammed up, take it apart, inspect, reinstall and everything would be good for a day, maybe a week as there was no Rhyme or Reason.

Three or four guys at least have already mentioned this on the forum.

Nobody should have to be stretching out any springs or making adjustments for these brand new beauties to work right.

Mine works flawlessly. I did have one minor issue right out of the package, it was almost completely dry inside, so it ratcheted kind of crappily, no issues with disengaging or locking up though. I opened it up an put in a few drops of Super Lube oil and it has been great since.

Some have been caused by people putting a thick lube in them, so I don't think that counts as defective IMO.
