I went to my local pawn store and found 3/8dr Flex torque wrench Tech2R100 for 149.99 dollars... retail list is 319.95 dollars. it is used but not abuse or any damaged on it.. i did tested it and it is vibration right on torque like 5 ft lbs and it show same 5 ft lbs...

DO anyone have opinion?? i am in market for FLex 3/8dr torque wrench... i still had 3/8dr torque wrench (non-flex) QD2100 (20-100 ft lbs) i am use a lot of 3/8dr torque wrench but i always want flex because i dont have to bust my knuckles or hit other parts...

i can stop by tomorrow after work to buy it if it is too good to pass?????? :headscrat:headscrat:headscrat:headscrat:headscrat

Take it. seriously, that is too good to pass up.

under half the price, and used but not marked/damaged/abused? that's a steal!

a friend of mine has the TechAngle and loves it. i love it too. but it's more expensive than a TechWrench, and is used less often.

but for this, i think that's one hell of a deal, and i sure wouldn't pass on it.

i just concern about handle because it is little bulk.... metal handles are smaller than plastic handle...

That isn't the Techangle. The Techangle has a blue-grey handle. That can only measure torque, not angle. Just clearing that up for those who say it's Techangle :)

Deafautotech,

your link goes to the FIXED HEAD style, not flex head. I assume you looked at the one for sale and confirmed it is a flex head. I have the inch pound Techwrench and it works well. The handle may break if you are prone to dropping them..... a no-no with any torque wrench.

The SO FAQ page for these wrenches indicate they still have a bending beam within and there is a calibration section that states they should be checked for calibration similar to other wrenches. They suggest 5,000 cycles and/or 6 months, but in the real world that is a subjective interval. Nuclear industry, yes, probably every 6 months.

A Snap ON truck should be able to "check" the calibration (not adjust it) on his truck.

For the same price, you could buy the very robust Precision Instrument split beam wrench brand new:

http://www.toolsdirect.com/index.cf...d/C2FR100F/manufacturer/Precision Instruments

If you are a auto school student or know one, you can buy the wrench direct from the company for under $100 delivered. I did just that because I work for an educational institution (It's a workplace wrench).

Personally, I would have trouble buying a used torque wrench of unknown history. If you go to the accuracy of using one, you certainly don't want it to fail. Anyone here have one of those horror stories?

Good luck.

Treeman,

i did editted the website to flex head not fixed head... thank you for information me....

i already graduated from Ivy tech college in may 2007 and no tool truck will sell torque wrench for cheap....

the website that you posted, i would like it over the techwrench.... but i dont know which good for me.... i am doing heavy line so i need flex torque wrench to do better instead use wobble extension (one inch only)

I am always test the torque wrench with my craftsman torque measuring system so it will tell me if it is in specific or not... most of time it is in specific.... if not then i will have it send for recalibation....

I have the Techangle one and love it. At that price I would get it. Just remember to take the batteries out when you aren't using it! :)

-BWP

Go get it.

I have the techwrenches in flexhead and they are very nice and so easy to use. You will really appreciate the ease of use if you have to so some work in in lbs or Nm.

+1 on the battery issue. They eat them.

how bad that it will eat the battries???

My experience is that if you leave the batteries in them while not in use you will have to change the batteries about every 2 months. It just takes 10 seconds to remove the batteries when done using them at the end of the day so its not that big of a deal.

Make the guy an offer, and smile at the savings! If you are happy with $150, then imagine how an extra 10-20% would make your weekend!

i tired to make offer but pawn store said no because they just put it in glass case last week....

they said i would wait for 30 days to make offer but i will bet it that it will be sold before 30 days.... either 150 dollars(little used) or 333 dollars (brand new)??????

It is nice to have inch lbs include with foot lbs torque wrench so i dont have to do math to make change from inch lbs to use ft lbs because my inch lbs torque wrench's ratchet head are too bulk... my ft lbs torque wrench is snap on which it is much thin so i can guide in easy....

i would use a lot of flex torque wrench if i own one...

Just my opinion, I would not buy a used torque wrench of any brand with an unknown history of use or abuse.
Just too much of a risk to use on critical fasteners tha could come back to bite you. The money you loose in a "comeback" could buy you a new wrench.
Just my 2 cents

the snap on techwrench torque wrench are little used no damage or stratches, or else... it had little dirty on handle... the ratchet head look little new...

my snap on guy told me that he will bring his brand new techwrench that he ordered last friday to show me... no way i can afford 330 dollars for it... i maybe can live with out if too costly for myself...

maybe i should think about the flex torque wrench like snap on had one??? non digital torque wrench???

The tech wrenches are great. I have the 3/8 flexhead techangle version at work. They're very accurate, easy to use, and faster to use. However, they are a precision tool with a plastic handle and digital display. You can't treat it like an all metal tool. No throwing it on to the tool cart when you're in a hurry, don't spray chemicals over it, keep it in it's case without the batteries in it when not in use (the batteries go dead if you leave them inside when the tool isn't used). Buying anything like this used is a gamble. If the wrench looks real clean, and is free of scratches, dings, and chips, powers up ok, you'll probably do alright. Half price for anything Snap on is a good thing.

I don't like mine. If I torque to the set limit it it goes into a mode the you must reset the thing after each fastener is tightend and that takes longer than tightening a fastener. *****.

Yours appears to need service then. My 1/2 drive started doing some weird things like that last year. I got it sent in and 10 days later it was fixed and got a new calibration sheet for n/c.

The TechWrench goes through a self diagnosis every time you fire it up. Unless you get an "ErrOr" code on start-up the tools is probably ok.

GO GET IT!!!!

At the assembly plant we use all these things all day long. From 1/4" to the big beefy 1/2" drive ones. These wrenches are awesome. I have yet to see one break, and we are talking about 24hr a day use.

If your worried about it breaking......don't! If a bunch of factory workers can't break them using them all the time, then I don't see a single person using it a couple times a day doing it any harm.

One great thing about the Techwrench is that it acts like a dial wrench that shows you the torque as it is advancing (if you can see the window).

All wrenches have pros and cons. The one I linked to is also flex head.

I always test my wrench on a bolt in the vise before I do a critical fastener. New or used, I NEVER trust them out of the box. I heard/seen too many horror stories.....snap!!!!

Good luck! Tell us the outcome.

my snap on guy showed me his brand new Flex 3/8dr Techwrench and he said he want for 330 dollars... i told him that i dont know about it ( i was feel like it is out of my budget range) but he threw discount price to 260 dollars for brand new one. he said it had one year warranty but lifetime warranty on gears.... so i bought from him.... i am really need warranty because if something happen (never know until it is happen) then it will be free to repair or replace by under warranty...

I did discuss with My Master tech (best friend) and he said he rather to buy new instead used... he said 150 dollars sound good but he dont want buy it and screw it up really easy which he would had lost 150 dollars easy...

So i bought it for 260 dollars plus tax... i did told my snap on guy that i will think about it for a week but he offer me lowest price that he can do (he ordered and paid 330 dollars but lost 70 dollars for me....)

Hmm, I get stuff from my SO guy justa bout every week (building up, buying what what I need instead of all at once). Maybe I should try this with him every now and then...

He did NOT pay $330 for it. Snap on Dealers usually get 60-70% off retail cost. He probably only made $10 on that deal. Still a very nice thing of him to do. I bought my Tech2R100 from my Snap-On dealer for $300 out the door. You definitely got a good deal.

thank you... that reason why i am rather to spend my money on my snap on guy because he is very good to me as if i have problem then he will take care of it at no problems!!!! some time i ask him for the quote for few tools then he make quote for it and i want buy all but no money for all tools. then he make deal with me then i took all of it... sometime he will sell me for cheap or sometime retail list... i am only buy what i need (not what i want)...
