I have a couple sets of Sunex impact sockets listed on my website for sale and have heard good things about the impact sockets. For the money their quality is good enough due to being cro-moly alloy. I would gladly use them before I would use any other brand that wasn't cro-moly. I think even the HF Pro impacts are the only ones with cro-moly and they are comparably priced only when "on sale" but that's almost all the time. :)

I wasn't aware they made other tools though.

IMPACT SOCKETS are decent for the money, but if you can find an older set made in japan they are very good quality in my opp. Most of their other lines are re branded Taiwaneese or china tools. In that price range Id go with gray pneumatic if possible! SUNEX AIR TOOLS are worth doing research on since they make air tools for other companies who rebrand.

As a matter of fact the other day I stopped at our puma dealer to get a new blow off valve and found out they are a Grey Pneumatic dealer. I have seen a few posts about them here maybe I should price them.

The pro air tools a tool truck company is relabeling them so I would imagine they are pretty good stuff

Unless sunex is relabeling someone that is making for multiple companies

i have had a Sunex 1/2" dr metric impact socket master set for at least 9 yrs now and haven't had a problem. even back then when i bought them they were considered very good and good value. Not as old, but I have some 3/8" and 3/4" Sunex impact stuff too... I'm pretty much sold on their impact sockets/adapter.

in more recent years, i got a set of their large crows foot wrenches. I've used these to torque down stuff that would otherwise be very difficult to use a torque wrench. i don't use them that much, but so far no issues on fit or spreading. they do seem very beefy and the chrome finish is REALLY good... having never owned any Sunex chrome tools, I didn't realize they do a great job on their chrome.

I have a impact set too and they are great except the crappy gold lettering wore off. Also have a large set of 4 way open end wrenches and they are cheap...but effective. Same goes for the rest if the hardline tools I have seen from them. As another poster said, pretty much on par with the decent stuff from Harbor Freight. Some is very nice and some is very crude..but mostly decent stuff for the stuff we don't use everyday.

The Sunex swivel impacts I have are great. Pinned style and cro-moly, but they've held up. More expensive than the HFs, but better construction, and far better value than the truck brands.

I'm planning on buying more of their impact swivels in the future.

I've got a 1/2 drive set of Sunex deep impacts, for the money they are pretty nice. I like that you can get kits that go up to 1 1/2", generaly 1/2 drive sets only seem to go up to around 1 1/4.

A couple guys I work with have full polish Sunex wrench sets that are pretty nice, the raised panel ones are pretty rough though.

I just got some free new Sunex tools from a relative a couple of days ago for my birthday. I got a combo wrench set with a convenient wrench holder pouch and a huge screwdriver set. I used one of the wrenches so far and they look to be decent. I've never heard of Sunex before. Anybody else familiar with Sunex tools? Whats your take on them?

Hello:Any info about your sunex tools? Thanks.

I have some angle wrenches and impact sockets. It's Astro-Tekton-Gearwrench quality stuff. Pretty decent and a great bang for the buck. They all have first rate support and warranty. Only a fool wouldn't indulge in a few pieces .

The impact sockets are great in my opinion. Very good sockets, very complete sets and good price. The rest of their tools look to be average quality import that I don't get too excited about. I have 1/2" drive Crowfeet that have proven good.

I have lots of sunex (mostly impact sockets), and the above quote sums it up perfectly.

I have yet to be in a situation where they've been anything but exemplary. Now that I think of it, almost every impact socket I own is sunex. Zero problems (aside from a stuck universal impact or two, but I break those in every brand).

Lifetime warranty, what's not to like?

I've considered purchasing a set of large Sunex wrenches. (1 1/4+) I just haven't yet. I saw a few bad reviews. But a friend of mine has a set of Sunex wrenches he uses now. He picked them up after mistakenly buying made made in China set of CMan RP wrenches. He's used RP wrenches forever and said he pretty impressed with the Sunex set so far

I've got the 1/2" Metric, 1/2" SAE and the 3/8" SAE/Metric Master impact socket sets and have been totally satisfied with them. They are rock solid and work great. I'd have no worries buying more Sunex stuff.

Dredging this thread up to add my 2-cents worth...

I have a few Sunex tools and have found them all to be high quality. It is my belief that Sunex is a US brand (located in Travelers Rest, South Carolina) which sources tools globally. My experience with their tools is:

Magnetic socket extensions: sourced in Taiwan, very high quality
Magnetic screwdrivers: sourced in China, very high quality
Offset open end wrench set: sourced in India, acceptable quality for a DIY

I've not seen them sold retail. They are sold via Amazon as well as by tool distributors.

I've been debating on purchasing the Sunex screwdriver set from Amazon. I read somewhere that they're the same as the import (blue handle) Williams, and they look mighty comfortable.

Made in Taiwan Sunex sockets are great, but since they've moved production to China, I have little to no interest in them. Their Indian made wrenches are absolutely trash, off center broaching, rough chrome, porrosity.

I will second all of those remarks based on personal experience with their tools.

I wouldn’t buy sunex anymore I got some taiwan sockets that are real good but if I got to warranty them I’ll be getting back some Chinese trash sockets so even if you can buy Taiwan old stock the warranty won’t be good anymore so just buy Tekton.
