Anyone have this case? SK 4051

I've got in my opinion one of the finest and most comprehensive sets of 1/2 impact sockets out there.
SK 4051
My complaint is with the case, however its not so much a complaint about the design or the quality. I just dont think it held up to what I asked of it. (bouncing around in the back of a pickup truck for about 5 years)

What I'm wondering is has anyone bought a socket set JUST for the case? I've contacted SK and they DO sell the case by itself ($48). I've seen a GP set that has the same sockets for about half the price but it would be great to have just the case so I could put MY sockets in it, IF it were affordable.
Has anyone done this?
Have a good source for socket set cases?
What do you think?

That's a good price it just won't fit my sockets.
The part number for mine is ABOX-4051. It's somehow made of gold or something because it costs 62 bucks!

Other than being dirty, what is wrong with it...hard to tell.

I looked at the images and couldn't tell as well. My guess was that the latches have too much outward curve to secure the top to the bottom.

Sorry I should have explained better. I'm on my second set of latches and the one on the left won't stay latched anymore. The whole case itself has just become really loose! I'm not saying its a bad case, its worn out and I cant bring myself to pay 68 dollars for a case!

If you just use it in your truck, then you could just build a piece from wood with one missing side. Slide it into that, then drive down the road.

if it were me i would fashion some sort of latch and call it a day. ,y concern would be putting some oil on those sockets. nothing wrong with use and wear but that is plain old abuse to let them rust like that. i hate rusty impact sockets.

They actually get oiled pretty regularly with kroil, but try working where I do and never ending up with rain on your tools. I use to oil up a rag and keep it on top of all the sockets but it ended up compounding the latch issue. But I guess if the "abuse" continues they're sure to be confiscated soon anyway. And its just the looseness of the case that I dont like any more. If the new case from that link is good I'll just order another one for a backup.

Why not just put them on a locking rail I have both standard and deep 1/2" impacts on the MTS aluminum locking rails and they hold them with ease. Replacement posts are also available at reasonable prices. A box opens and the sockets are everywhere, not so with a locking rail.
