I was walking through menards earlier and noticed these boxes were being clearance out. I've never heard of them before and can't find any info/reviews on them. They seem to be similar quality to the masterforce boxes but I'm no expert either. For the price though, its hard to say no. Anyone have one or have an opinion of them?

Edit: just noticed at the bottom of the description that it says the brand name is masterforce. Maybe a hownowner series that they're phasing out?

It look just like a model that was sold at my local costco for a couple of week only.
they look and feel good...would have been perfect for my race trailer, but I doubt would be professionnal grade.

True, I may just pick it up anyways snice I'm just starting out and upgrade in a few years when I can afford a nicer box. I won't be rolling it around or banging anything into it so the plastic on the corners isn't a deal killer to me

Yeah, that bugs me. It looks like the masterforce 56 inch with minus 2 shallow drawers and some plastic corners on it. I'll go look closely later and try to comare the two. The 56 inch masterforce was the box I wanted but it's 350 more with the stainless top so it'd take me longer to save for it

If ya just starting out, what sort of tool collection do you currently have? Wouldnt a tried n tested 44inch be better with a voucher?

Most of my tools are craftsman usa that I've had for years, plus a combination of snap on and husky wrenches. I'm starting to outgrow my performax 26 inch combo, plus I absolutely loathe the drawer detent on that thing. I've walked into HF several times but can never talk myself into bringing the 44 inch home. I'd rather have the latch style drawers, plus I don't really like the feel of the HF boxes for some reason.

I did go back to menards while I was out earlier. First and foremost, those plastic end caps slide right off, leaving only an unobtrusive bracket on the front of the box that I can easily live with. Construction looks extremely similar to the 56 inch masterforce, only differences I could find are that the 57 inch drawers have a 90 degree lip at the top for added strength, while the 56 inch drawers are simply straight. Drawer slides looked identical and are full extension. The casters are also different on the 57 inch box. There are only 4 vs 6 on the 56 inch, but the 57 is still rated for 2000 lbs total weight. I didn't think to take measurments, but with the plastic corners adding ~1.5 inches to either side, I'd guess the actual box width to be 53-54 inches. Fairly standard 18-20 inch depth, 3-4 inches shorter height to accommodate for the loss of the 2 shallow drawers.

Also saw the 72 inch montezuma for 499 and 36 inch for 349. Drawer layout is terrible on the 72 and the 36 has auto return drawer detent like the performax, plus is too small for what I'd want.

I'm thinking it over right now. I'd love to have the 57 inch box, but the cheap *** in me keeps trying to talk me into just getting the 44 inch HF and saving $200+

Do you have your heart set on new? Your dollar will go a lot further on CL, and when you outgrow it, won't take much of a hit when you sell.

I saw them before Christmas and figured there were a seasonal offering with several other not normally stocked boxes. Cheesy in my opinion.

I'm open to used, but despite the fact that I live in the Chicago area, I can't seem to find anything reasonable. A few nice macsimisers and snap on boxes for 3k, I did just find a blue point box for 1200 but that is still double what I'm looking to spend here. This box will probably come home and live in my garage once I upgrade so I'm not hugely worried about resale
