I am cleaning out my grandfather's estate, and found a TON of Ford Wrenches and crescent type wrenches. I would rather offer them here to a true collector than put them all on ebay. Is there anyone here collecting them? I have some in really good condition with bright, shiny "Ford" that is easy to see. Some are hard to read. I'm assuming they are from Model A's and Model T's. I also have wooden box coils, and carbs.

I haven't gone through them all yet; I have something like 1500 antique tools on a bench right now. I have the crescent type for sure. This is a picture I took on day one...I'm on day 7 now, so the pile is at least 5 times what it was.

I'll be watching the for sale section. Have a Model A I am building and I like old tools and put them to use.

Have a couple Ford wrenches and looking for more.

Wow I would be having a field day with that lot of tools. :rocker: OP did your Grandfather work on the old Fords or was he just a collector by nature in order to have so many tools?

I'm just collecting the random ford tools I get at sale to build a shadow box of them. I might be interested in some to add to my collection!

For what it's worth, that first tool is a Model T tool (part number begins with "T"), Model A began with "A", Model B (early V-8 with "B", etc.

I collect Ford tools both to preserve them, and to work on a growing collection of Ford cars. So if you are looking to sell any Ford or KR Wilson tools I am very interested. Thank you.
(cars include, 1929 Model A Sport Coupe, 3- 1930 Model A Town Sedans, 1938 Ford 4 door sedan and a 1939 Ford 2 door sedan.)

If any of them have a part number beginning with "5z-" I'd be interested. That and earlier (model T era) KRW tools. Some jobs on T's are just easier when you have the right tools to work on them. (I have a '15 and a '20, parts for a '19 and assorted other stuff... plus I work on T's for others who need help!)

BTW - the wrench in the picture is an early style Model T head bolt/spark plug wrench - the SP is 15/16 (fits a champion X), the head bolts are 5/8". The later ones look more like a box-end wrench in the 5/8 side, with the same (usually tweaked) spark plug OE side... they came with the car.

I'll watch for what you are going to sell. Do you think there might be a engine crank for my 29 A in that pile?

I don't know what the crank would look like....But I've found a few. If you could post a pic of what you're looking for, I'll let you know if I have it

I think he was a collector. He got alsheimers real bad towards the end, and just bought every tool he could get his hands on.

My grandma is having a garage sale the weekend after labor day....I've filled 59 boxes so far with brand new harbor freight....And I'm not even 1/4 of the way through the garage yet.

Thanks for the info. Were all tools actually marked, "Ford?" I ask because I have a load in my car of just under 1,000 antique tools right now. I tried to pick out all of the ones I knew were old Fords. But if there are any unmarked I've thrown them in a pile of unmarked tools.

Ultimately I am going to sell all of the tools, but it'd be great if I could identify them. Maybe I'll start a thread and just post each tool to be identified. When I do that, I'll post a, "Massive Antique Tool Identification" thread.

So, I will list all of the numbers I could read; I am also going to post pictures of every tool. This is how to read it: Top row, not including the tractor wrench that begins the row;

#1 M-40-17017
#2 M 41
#3 M-81A-17017
#4 T5893
#5 M 2
#6 T5393
#7 T5893
#8 T5893
#9 M 27
#10 M 20
#11 M 34
#12 M-01A(maybe 4)-17017
#13 T??93

2nd Row (bottom row) Left to right

#14 M 2
#15 M 43
#16 M 2
#17 2M40-17017

These are to the best of my reading ability. I am now going to upload all of the close up pics. I will try to do them in order the best I can.
