I'm going to be in Colorado in June and was wondering if there was anything of tool-related interest in the Denver area.

I'll be flying in and out of Denver but residing in Colorado Springs, and might rent a car.

I already know about Tool King and plan on giving them a visit if I can.

Tool King has mostly low end stuff. Assenmacher Specialty Tools is in Boulder. They have their own line of, you guessed it, specialty tools and some Hazet and Stahlwille. Their tools are kinda pricey.

In the Springs on Platte Avenue, there is a string of pawn shops that used to have some pretty good deals. There is also a large (for the springs) flea market also on Platte (West side) between Academy and Powers that I found tons of tools at when lived there. It's been more than a few years since my last visit so, I don't know if Ebay dried the bargains up but, I used do quite well there.

lol, I can just imagine my colleagues' expressions. "So Stuey, what are you doing during the lunch break?" "Checking out the pawn shops."

Although if I don't end up with a car, the whole issue is moot anyways. I know Tool King is low end stuff, but from the looks of it they've got a slew of power tools I'd like to check out.

Oops, I forgot about Charlie's. Tool King does have a good selection of power tools. Tool King has partnered with Rockler (woodworking tools and supplies) recently, and stocks quite a bit of stuff from the Rockler catalog. You may also be interested in checking out Tool Zone www.toolzone.com. They have a good selection of power tools.
