I recognize Lauver (Gary) here, and that's it. Anyone else? I was Joe on that board....was very active.

Hi,

I don't remember a "Craftsman" Tool Talk board, but there was a Tool Talk board sponsored by some sort of on-line tool store from about 1996 or so. It went through several variations and eventually became "Mark Kw's" tool board.

In fact, it was on Mark Kw's board that I learned of GJ. Haven't been to Mark Kw's site in a few years-not sure if its still up and running or not.

A few of the more regular members at the original "Tool Talk" that I remember are:

John Garner, Ratchet Don, Mr. Pogo, Dale Powell and of course, Mark Kw.

Tool Talk was VERY basic compared to GJ, but was the GJ of its day.

I was a member of the Craftsman Tool Talk. I believe I was "LG" there, but possibly lbgradwell...

I didn't post very often, but I recall having discussions with you and Adam and others...

I also remember what evolved into Mark KW's site. John Garner in particular was an excellent source of information in days prior to AA...

I'm not sure Mr. Garner didn't have MORE info than AA. He was the MAN!

I don't think that you could have posted photos back then, as that was a text based board....hyperlinks did work though :).

I remember predicting that seeing the shift from USA made Craftsman to made overseas Craftsman was going to occur and it was bad business. Unfortunately, it's held true :(.

I think so...I remember there was a guy named Paul who had some great knowledge of manufacturer history. I know he used several nome de plumes :).

Yes, I do remember you too.

Adam, that was it. Seems he wrote about being frustrated over not being able to get all the rebuils kits he needed for customers.

Hoot, what issue did you have with Adam?

He and I had some differences of opinion, but we got along just fine. I could imagine his frustration in trying to help out customers that wanted the "old gold" but that Sears wouldn't make things easy to do.
