Are you f*cking kidding me?! Really?!

I've read some asinine comments on the forum but this takes the cake imho. :lol_hitti

No one is going to say sh*t except from a tool snob. If it gets the job done and does it for the right price then absolutely no one will care what tool did the job except for a dyed in the wool snob or someone who 'thinks' they know what good tools are.

I agree that well made used US tools can be had for not much money as long as you don't have a yen for the tool truck stuff. Even used in decent shape, people still want dumb money for it unless it's completely shot.

I have HF emergency sets in all of my vehicles- 6 in 1 screwdrivers, wrench sets, socket set with ratchets, locking pliers all HF. My friend's and co-worker's car couldn't start and I used my HF tools in front of a bunch of other co-workers. All were amazed I got the car started and running and no one cared about the tools I was using. I wouldn't hesitate to buy more HF tools.

I've had a pass through socket fail, but the little ring that held it on the rachet fell off... besides that I do have quite a few tools from HF

Not everyone wants to spend their weekends digging through piles of rusty tools in yard sales and flea markets to find an old USA "quality" tool one piece at a time. I'd much rather have a full set of something new and cheap, (as adjustable wrenches and pliers don't need to weigh 2 pounds to work anymore) that come with a warranty, and get my shopping done in just a few places or at the comfort of my couch.

Also not everyone has the same work environment. My work tools don't live in a nice shop and stay within 20 feet of its toolbox. I'm on a different jobsite everyday, in all sorts of weather, with different people grabbing tools off my truck that I have to hope get put back. Don't know how anyone else feels, but if I accidentally drop a ratchet and socket from 20' in the air into a pile poison ivy, or a pair of pliers into 6 feet of water down a manhole, I'd much rather it be a HF tool then something expensive that I'd feel obligated to fish out.. They work good, they are cheap, are disposable if they get lost, stolen, or broken - and make me the same money expensive tools would in the same amount of time.. What more could you ask for?

That said, I do have expensive tools too - but why would I risk a $50 pair of pliers when I don't need to.. There is definitely a need for both..

I had the world's cheapest ratchet fail. The one that comes in the blue box with a bunch of sockets for free or sometimes 3.99$. It slipped in both directions with any load. I took it apart to inspect and didn't see anything obviously wrong. Reassembled it and it was back to working. The pawl must have shifted in some way where it wasn't contacting anymore. So... I'm not sure how much of a fail I'd consider that. I've gotten a surprising amount of work done with those for the price of free. Now that I've started visiting GJ though and caugh toolitis I have a billion ratchets and sockets and don't use it anymore. It's in my car as a backup to the backup.
