I am an Auto Mechanic and have developed some annoying and painful side effects from 40 years of shop noises. Playing the pull the ear plug to talk /put it back in thing is wearing thin and I am considering buying some 3M™ PELTOR™ Electronic Earplugs, EEP-100. I just am wondering if they actually work. Here is a link to 3Ms site: https://www.3m.com/3M/en_US/company...-Earplug-EEP-100/?N=5002385+3290080241&rt=rud

Thanks in advance for your time.

I have them and they are great. You can hear people talk and they automatically block out loud sounds. The battery lasts longer than 8 hours for me at full volume and I replaced the included earplugs with the Peltor Skull Screws which to me fit better and comfortably and come with a slightly higher Db rating.

Typically I recommend 3M but my Pelton over ear headphones crapped out in short order.

Also, I have worn totally wireless (like those linked) and found myself losing a bud sometimes on the site. I prefer the wireless but connected to each other style of buds, easy to wrap over neck when needed and definitely wont lose as easy.

Check out some of these other options:

IsoTunes
Ruckus

The NRR specs meet my needs, I am currently wearing Peltor triple flange ear plugs so I am confident they will fit comfortably. I am more wondering how the electronic part works, is it effective, can you hear conversations, surrounding low level noises, does it lag too much, ETC? Basically does the technical part work? I borrowed a set of Walker Electronic ear muffs and I was happy with the functionality but the headphone style will not work in my industry. I need the ear bud type.

Can't help on the operations, as we have to use stuff with a NRR of 30 or greater, and in some operations, double protection. The only active stuff we use are active noise canceling headsets during our engine runs, radio checks and launch/recover operations.
