Anyone here using a HF 2 ton engine stand?

I picked up one because I need to pull my LT1 from my 94 vette.

It holds ok but the darn thing won't rotate. You can see on the stand where the black bracket brace slides into the red brace that holds it.

The bolt on the left catches about 1/4 turn on the stand. I need to replace my oil pan and 1/4 turn won't cut it.

Bolts are on the right way per the manual, I am looking to see if maybe someone else has one and if mine is just luck of the draw, warped. You can clearly see the fine machining on this picture

Excuse the mess, the previous owner neglected this car.

Can the black bracket brace be moved out away from the red tube. It looks like there is a couple inches of black tube sticking out the other end.

The proper fix would be to tap big threads into the thick metal plate and thread time-serts in there so you can use shorter bolts that don't stick through. The shorter bolts would thread into the inner threads of the time-serts. You can make your own time-serts by using big bolts to fit your new big threads, cutting them off flush to the plate, then drilling and tapping them for the shorter, smaller bolts.

It does sound like your unit has too short of a red tube (if I'm reading this right). It might be worth a trip to HF to see if the other ones have this clearance issue.

Yeah I might have to head there, I was able to slide it up but the weight seems to slowly bring it back down. I think I might have drawn the Friday closing time model. lol

Couldn't you remove the black bracket assembly from the stand and trim 1/4" off of the end of the red tube? That seems like it would be the quickest easiest fix possible.

did you use any washers? I grabbed grade 8 bolts but the heads are smidge too small.

Which ones are reversed, all of them?

All mine are on the opposite side (nuts facing the motor). I used grade 5 washers w/ grade 8 bolts.
