there cheap and dont require a chimney? i have a 24+28 and these are looking pretty good

I have basically the same thing only in NG. I haven't had a problem yet, but have only been using it on a limited basis. I did buy a carbon monoxide detector to try to be safe and there are what I would consider valid reports of it causing high humidity if used a lot. So far I wouldn't be against it for limited use or like for me also a backup in case of a loss of power.

it is a natural gas unit im looking at...for a garage, why would it cause high humidity?....only looking for intermit use when im in the garage maybe a day or 2 straight at the most...or too just warm it up fast well im waiting on the wood stove

Moisture is a by-product of the combustion process. Normally this would be vented outside but not so with a vent-free. The moisture builds up fairly rapidly. I would get one of the same units in the vented style.

I know plenty of people that have the vent-free, many will say they are fine. I do not believe they are good for your health. It's just my opinion.

i believe the box said it has an oxygen detector built into it to monitor ox values ..and with a co monitor mounted in the garage as well would they n ot be safe?

I purchased one of those unvented space heaters for my garage and used it 2 winters in a row and then could not figure out why my street rod and all of my tools were starting to get a film of rust on them. HMMMMM could it be the excess moisture from the unvented heater. Think twice before puting an unvented heater in the garage or anywhere.

i looked on the mrheater site and dont see a similar unit that is vented....wouldnt be a big deal for me to run a vent pipe out the wall as my stud cavity's are open right now... i just happend to see that unit in a store for like 200 and thought it was a bargain, if anyone knows of a similar unit that vents out the wall let me know cuz hey i dont want rusty tools!!!

There's a reason they can make money on those vent-free and sell them at $200. They do not last long. I've seen vented models that are just failing at 30 yrs old.

vented seems to be much priceier, eek! i liked that 200 dollar idea, but i dont want my tools rusting...
im lookin for something i can mount on the wall, venting wouldnt be a big issue as my wall cavitys are open yet..

Reading through this thread has pretty much convinced me to go with an Electric heater. Our Winters are not too bad anyway.
