Anyone know about this new Miller AC TIG MP machine?

I saw a product listing on a welding supply site (I think Bakers) for a Multimatic 220 with AC TIG that had some info listed. It's since been taken down and I didn't pay enough attention to the specs.

I'll be going to SEMA where they're supposed to to the unveiling to see it first hand, but have a brand new, never used Multimatic 200 and Spoolmate 100 and TIG torch I might want to sell before the new unit is out as I suspect it may have an impact on the price it may fetch.

Anyone have any insight on the new rig?

They've been pretty tight lipped about it. I asked the Miller rep at the last trade show I was at 2 weeks ago, and he either didn't know much or couldn't say.

If the price is right, it's gonna be a game changer. I'll buy one if it's less than $2500.

Hopefully it's dual voltage, and the mig is decent. I don't need too many AC frills, I have a Dynasty for that. What I need is a portable mig welder than can do a little bit of AC TIG for things like pontoon boat repairs and stuff like that.

This is the closest thing to 'information' I can find:

https://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/miller-multimatic-220-ac-dc-multiprocess-welder

I'm assumming the 2,999 price would be a package with TG kit. If that's the case, we can see street prices and rebates down under $2,500 it is a no brainer.

I'm hoping to find out size and weight, primarily, and secondarily amperage and duty cycles. Also would be helpful to know which accessories will be compatible. Would be nice if some of the accessories I already have for the 200 I can keep around.

If it is roughly the same as the 215 and it will do everything the MM 200 will do with similar duty cycles, I'd sell the 200 and pick up a 220 when available.

Yeah, the most information on it that I could find was from the watered down description (yet very detailed pictures) from the WSFIOC website you listed, gsea.

We can draw some conclusions and make some very good assumptions from that page:
- It'll be dual voltage.
- It's very similar to the current inverter Multimatic 215.
- It likely shares many of the same components. The pictures say a 1000 words.
- Same MIG gun, wire drive assembly, small dinse power connections (electrode one being gas-thru), rear gas inlets, MVP plug, etc...unfortunately (yet not mind blowing) all pretty light duty.
- That said, I'm gonna guess the duty cycle on 240 volts will be 40% at 150 amps and 10% at 230 amps for all processes as it appears to have double the fans (TIG/stick are lower on the MM215). This aligns with their past and current non-Dynasty TIG machines (Diversion, SW210, etc.).
- Pretty light duty overall but should be just fine for non production work.
- HOPEFULLY has decent range and user control of AC balance/frequency, gas pre/post flow, and TIG pulse. I am not holding my breath here though given it's a Miller hobby unit and they just love telling customers "this is what you need and nothing more!"
- Appears to have the standard foot pedal connector, so their wireless foot pedal should work (which is awesome).

Definitely going to be light duty...the included MIG gun, rinky dink dinse connections, and Hasbro MIG gun are dead giveaways. That doesn't mean it won't be functional, nice, and exceed their specs (I know my inverter 211 does). Very, very sleek looking. Elegant. Something the Everlast units lack big time.

Specs are out:

https://www.weldingsuppliesfromioc.com/media/pdf_forms/Miller Multimatic 220 ACDC.pdf

I made some pretty good assumptions :D Interesting machine that’s for sure. The specs really aren’t that bad, but what gets me is the 20 amp TIG low end...that kinda really blows. I feel like that was intentional in order to make you yearn for the Dynasty to get the complete Miller experience [emoji23] That one spec right there will keep me from buying this machine. Bummer because other than that, it’s quite alright for the garage. Larger dinse connectors would be nice too, but there are work arounds. Can work around a fixed bottom end of 20 amps.

Looks like I’ll keep saving for a Dynasty or spring for the HTP 221 and hang on to my MM211...
