Saw this for sale locally and it peaked my interest, I'm not to educated in Matco boxes. Looks like a triple bay with a flip top, not sure of dimensions looks 70x24 at least. Anyway any info be appreciated.

Worked with a guy at a Chevy dealership that had one, was a good box, only thing is I use the top of my box as a workbench.

Has the full length drawer, so less then 20 years old. Have not seen one like that and I have seen a lot of boxes. Interesting. What is he asking?

That box is from the early '90s. That's from the era where Matco boxes were starting to be different from Mac. The Matco boxes we know know now came out about '94-'95. From the ones I've seen, they are well built boxes. I know of the flip up lid, never saw one in real life. Up to you if you like the style. They made a normal version of that box also.

I would venture to say that is one of the first boxes with a full length drawer up top.

As to the price, I could never get $2500 for it. More like about $1500.

Matco had a full width drawer well back into the 80's. I have seen examples of the double grab handle drawer pull style boxes with a full width top drawer. Mac had full width in '85 on the mb1700 all be it on the bottom. SO was late to game, trying to cheat by putting the full width on the top box.

That's a great box. My dad bought one sometime in the 90's and still has it around. High quality and lots of storage. $2500 is steep though!

Question, the full width drawers you guys mention in the 80's. Were they top or bottom?

I knew Mac had one on the bottom.

Also, didn't know Matco was first with the top drawer. Have seen some SO tops with the full width as the bottom drawer. Guess they were feeling some market pressure.

All old Matco I saw were top drawers. That was right at the beginning of Mac and matco being different. I want to say all double bays were different between brands because I never saw ones that matched.
