Anyone know how to remove a Milton air chuck?

I am trying to put a euro style air chuck on my Milton inflator. The chuck that is on there now has some sort of sealant on it. Does this need to be heated to release? The brass corners started to round off when I tried to remove it.

I think you on the right track. There is probably some sort of pipe dope or other sealant which has hardened with the passage of time. I would apply a propane torch to the silver hex. Obviously try not to burn up the rubber hose.

But, isn't that a quick disconnect coupler in your picture? The chuck is the piece that you push onto a tire valve stem. Are you trying to change from the silver Milton coupler to something like a Prevost ?

Its a quick disconnect for the standard tire air valve, the problem is it doesn't fit wheels where the valve is close to a spoke because its so bulky. I got it for $40 so i thought throwing a different chuck wouldnt be a bad deal. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075RQHLKZ?tag=atomicindus08-20

I've taken apart/modified a Milton with a longer extension for my dually and didn't have any issues. I'd recommend using a Knipex plier wrench if you have one on the brass side. Might need someone else to help, but I feel like they give a better grip on the soft stuff than a standard open end wrench.

Two wrenches.

Otherwise put the brass end in a vise and wrench off the fitting. BTDT.

And stop Euronating on everything, Calvin.

I also recommend getting yourself either locking adjustable wrenches or Knipex pliers wrenches or parakeets (actually called raptor) that will grab stronger the harder you push.

A more drastic measure is cutting the end off and putting a new thread and ferrule on. Probably not necessary with the right tools.

Or just get a whole *** new hose. They aren't that expensive.

Would a box end fit over the quick connector? Doubt it.
I agree, a box end would not fit and i doubt you could get a flare wrench on the brass hex either because of the ferrule on the hose.
Does anybody suggest any other tool?
A knipex plier wrench would work better on the brass and not mar things like other pliers or pipe wrenches He appears to be using raised panel craftsman, so a better fitting wrench would also be better.

I by chance someone did use loctite or similar, they will all let go if heated to 400 deg F so a heat gun or small butane torch will easily do it.

Go wild and use a small pipe wrench?
+1!

There is no reason for them to be that tight! It’s an air coupling at the end of a line. A turn and a half of teflon tape then a good snug tightening is good enough. There is no reason to go ape **** tight on that application.

Open end wrenches, especially loose ones, tend to round off an over tightened soft brass hex. I try to us line wrenches on them if it can. I have Craftsman and SK line wrenches but eventually I bit the bullet and bought snap on line wrenches which works the best at not rounding.

If that don’t work I’ll reach for my Knipex pliers (that don’t mar the surface), then to my Knipex cobras.

You could also put a Milton coupling plug onto the European air chuck. I did that to all of my oddball air chucks to use on one if my tireflators.

I have a European air chuck but prefer the new Jaco locking chuck.
