Anyone know much about the Snap-on branded pressure transducer's?

I currently have for my Modis the 0-5000 psi model I used for testing my Ford Powerstroke's HPOP which did work quite well. Being that its a 0-5000 rated unit does anyone know how accurate it will test oil pressure on a basic 4-cyl gas engine?

SO also carries in addition to mine, the 0-100 and 0-500psi units and according to my SO guy all I got from him when asked was mine should be accurate but most mechanics preffer the 0-100 for tests as such.

Assuming he is trying to get me to just drop another $300+ on another unit which I really don't want to, should what I have work fine for what I want to do?

I know I can just hook up a basic oil pressure gauge but I want to be able to graph my data under various load conditions.

Thanks,

Sean

I have 0-100 and 0-500. I would probably never consider using the 500 for engine oil pressure, I think that answers your question.

You can look into an AC pressure sensor of late model cars and trucks, they use the same connector, and some even have 1/8 pipe threads, there is a diesel one as well, i forget what sensors are what pressures, and you have to figure out a calibration on them as well. There is good info on iATN in the snapon forum, from years back.

I use my Modis to check these type of sensors for working/not working, but not accuracy on car systems. It is faster than backprobing to see if the values change, I thought about doing a spreadsheet for them, but...

Hope this helps some

MechanicNamedJohn made his own not that long ago. I think there is a write up on here about it. Might want to search his posts and see if you can find it.
