Anyone Know Where I Can Find One?

Something I've wanted to buy, but can't find are one of those elaborate thread checker gauge-type displays hardware stores have in their nuts and bolts section.

You know the ones with the actual bolts are sticking out and labeled, and the threads where you can insert the bolts to check the different sizes of the bolt you're looking for, and whether it's metric or sae.

I have the simple plastic type gauges, but a display type setup in the garage would really be handy.

Anyone know where I could find something like that?

Thanks for the help.

Dunno...But I bet it wouldn't take too long to make one yourself.

I have two plastic ones, big white one came with my nut and bolt storehouse 30 years ago, and a small yellow metric one I bought recently for $3. Both work and fairly quickly its possible to identify any nut or bolt you come across. I used to also have, maybe still have someplace, a flip thing like the old feeler gauges with a saw tooth edge to check thread pitch.

You could make one of the display types, but I suspect in practice its less handy than it is big.

What your looking for is a "Universal Thread Gauges" made by THEXTON, it's a kit with USS, Metric, Pipe and is one very useful and handy item for the shop. I got mine years ago from www.griotsgarage.com also the snap-on truck has them part #THX432 about $12. It's Money well spent.

I appreciate this, that's what I'm looking for. I have a dial caliper, and all the other "proper" tools, but I find these to be really quick and handy, and wanted to put it up in my garage.

I have two of the 24" long plastic "T" shaped racks with a nut and a bolt of each thread size both coarse and fine. I got them at a Country General that was closing before the Bomgaars buyout.

The metric one is a mega time saver when working on our JD combine and baler which are all metric. I also set my 5 year old nephew and my wife on a stool with the standard version to put loose nuts and bolts away in the bolt bins. They are learning sizes and I don't have to sort them myself.
