Anyone know where to find 8" hack saw blades?

I bought two short hack saws, cast iron, and I think they are 8 inch saws...


does anyone know where I can find 8 inch saw blades? I guess I didn't think about them not being made any more, my older saws are adjustable between 8-10-12 inch if I recall.

One option is to get a bi-metal blade and shorten it. the bi-metal blades have a softer back that you can put a hole in after shortening it.

I think the fein blade is for a reciprocating saw,

Cutting one down might be my only option... I'll try to clean up the old rusted blades on them, maybe they have a mfg mark or something I can grab a brand from.

I have an old power hacksaw that used 8" blades. I finally put a wanted ad up and found someone who had a stash of NOS blades. They were cheap enough I just bought a lifetime supply.

Good idea. I found some NOS blades at an estate sale and stashed them.

Get a solid carbide drill and drill the hole wherever you want it.

I only buy bi-metal hacksaw blades. They last so much longer.

Anyway, the backs of bi-metal blades are soft enough to easily punch a new hole in. Then just use a pair of tin snips to cut from the back to just before the teeth. Stop there, and bend and snap the end.

I've done it with older blades that didn't have the hole exactly where I wanted it. Got the blades cheap, so, the Whitney punch really came in handy.

If you read it, it says "HAVE" a punch like that.......not to go out and buy one. The manual punches, as suggested by Bonneyman will also do the job.

Don't be so critical of HF quality tools, I have both of those punches (imports) and they have served me well and will likely outlive me.
