Used to cut firewood with dad then did a bunch at work. We ran the oddball saws, Dolmars and a solo, but both high quality made in germany.

Don't cut much anymore, but we had one of the box store green poulans as a beater saw etc, it hasn't run in yrs and for some cheap fun I got it running again. Was just way out of tune, I had to cut slots in the carb screws to avoiding buying the tool to adjust.
I then cut the muffler apart and gutted it, and welded back up.
Saw actually runs decent, But I want to go down the rabbit hole of porting, anyone here know how to do that?

Check over on arboristsite

Got about 15 chainsaws out in the shed, most of them running only 2 don't.
Varies between 12" top handle saws and a new Echo CS7310p with 30" bar.
It's an addiction.
My favorite brand has become Echo.

I just started using a chain saw this year. Had a tree fall - 60'+ and 18"+ at base and wasn't interested in paying someone. Researched and talked to people and bought an Ego 16" - battery. Everyone laughed until I limbed and cut and stacked the whole tree, and went on to fell and buck several others. No gas, no maintenance, no pull start, instant brake, no fumes, no hot exhaust, fairly light weight. I added their pole saw - 12" chain saw on an 11' pole using same battery - love getting all those low dead limbs off. Highly recommended, especially for those whose use is sporadic. I might have thought differently if cutting firewood every week but not sure now.
